I ignored the advice to “wait until you have more experience before starting your own practice” — and it led to building a law firm and life on my own terms.

When I decided to start my practice just 3 years out of law school, people were full of fears they tried to unload on me:

“You won’t make enough to cover your mortgage and student loans.”

“You don’t have enough training to be your own boss.”

“Running a law firm is way too hard.”

Guess what? I’m so glad I didn’t listen.

Six years later, I have the freedom to practice law the way I want, serve the clients I’m passionate about, and pivot when life calls for it.

Would I do it again? Ten toes down, yes.
