Little Dixie CASA-Court Appointed Special Advocates

Little Dixie CASA-Court Appointed Special Advocates Little Dixie CASA recruits, trains and supports community volunteers to advocate for the best interest of abused and neglected children. Advocates become additional "eyes and ears" of the court, making objective recommendations for children in care.

Little Dixie CASA-Court Appointed Special Advocates is Choctaw, Pushmataha and McCurtain County's only court-appointed organization advocating for abused and neglected children. CASA volunteer Advocates are appointed by Judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don't get lost in the overburdened legal and social services systems or languish in group or foster homes. For many children, their CASA Advocate will be the one constant adult presence in their lives during this difficult time. Oklahoma court says child neglect charge applies to unborn: Unborn children are included in the definition of a “child” for purposes of prosecuting child neglect cases, an Oklahoma appeals court ruled on Thursday. The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals overturned a lower court ruling in a case involving Kearline Datara Anderson of Rogers County who was charged with child neglect after state prosecutors alleged she used illegal drugs while she was pregnant. Oklahomans Against Child Predators

The effects of childhood trauma last for decades, it affects you, your spouse, your children, your life.

Now imagine having to deal with these feelings and emotions for decades and still having to see your abuser freely walk the streets because of a law put into place that protects his or her “rights”

Do not be one that turns a blind eye to what is really happening in Oklahoma! It’s disturbing that we have a statute of limitations protecting known sexual abusers in our state.

Don’t turn a blind eye to what is happening in your own towns. Join us in this fight to help bring justice for every victims out there!

If you would love to join us please comment below with your name and email address and we will send you ways that you can help!!

I took this image from a friend that saw this poor kid at a store recently.
There are a ton of people that are complaining about opening the schools to soon. I can see their side and understand completely.
*BUT* Have you sat and thought about the kid that is being neglected? ( we all have been to school and there was always that one dirty kid that you knew had it hard at home)
My God! This poor child's hair is all matted!!!! and clothes are dirty!
Do you think she is eating well?
School is an outlet not just for an education BUT it is also a safe haven for at least 6 hrs.
Teachers also note this stuff and report things like this to the proper authorities to make sure that kids are actually safe. There are so many kids like this one that are falling through the cracks and are wishing that school was in session just to get that meal or even have some social interaction. Please stop complaining... Think of those kids that are in a situation they wish that they could get that little escape for a day.

There will never be another moment like this one in our lifetime.

I have only just a minute, 60 seconds in it, forced upon me, I did not choose it, but I must now use it, give account if I abuse it, suffer if I lose it. Only a tiny little minute but eternity is in it.

–Dr. Benjamin E. Mays, educator and civil rights activist.

Child Abuse Network, Inc.

We're partnering with Family & Children's Services, The Parent Child Center of Tulsa and Tulsa Area United Way to encourage everyone to #LookOutReachOut and help keep children safe during the continued shelter at home initiatives.

If you know families that may need additional support or who are experiencing extreme stress, reach out to them and check on the welfare of any children in the home through video call if possible.
Other tips include:
• Have a safety plan in mind and act on it before stress becomes overwhelming
• If the stress is difficult, call the COPES emotional support line at 981-744-4800
• Report any concerns over child safety to the Oklahoma Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-522-3511. A call is not an accusation of abuse, it's a request for a professional to check on the family's welfare.
