the political system of a society or nation directly impacts or influences its legal system. in democratic societies laws that facilitates free trade, free movement,expression and political contests are encouraged. In undemocratic societies laws that reinforces the state control over the life of the citizenry in all aspects are strictly implemented. There is however a great deal of confusion on the type of legal system that is implemented in democratic but corrupt society like uganda. you have on one hand one of best pieces of legislation inthe Bill of rights, criminal code, trade laws almost bordering laissez fair but also a situation where the political space is restricted and corruption thrives with reckless abandon. the end result is usually that the sovereign picks which laws to implement against anyone at any time convenient.
