As a Lawyer and Woman MP for Kampala, I am honored to be attending the National Women Leaders Conference in Kampala, organized by FOWODE and partners.

We are deliberating under the vision: _“A just and fair society where in all spheres, public and private, women and men in all their diversities share equally in decision making.”_

This aligns directly with my work both in Parliament and in court — fighting for justice, equality, and ensuring that women's voices are not just heard, but respected and acted upon.

When women lead, the nation moves forward. The struggle for an equal future continues!

I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic and brutal murder of Mzee Moses Matovu, the legendary founder and leader of Afrigo Band.

Mzee Matovu was not just a musician, he was a national treasure, a cultural pillar, and the father of Uganda's live band music. For over 50 years, through his iconic saxophone and voice as Papa Moi, he gave Uganda joy, identity, and timeless music with Afrigo Band.

It is painful that his life has been ended so violently. According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Rachael Kawala, Kabalagala Police Station has registered a murder case after he was attacked by unidentified assailants in Kibuli this morning and later died at Kibuli Hospital.

I condemn this heinous act in the strongest terms and call upon the Uganda Police Force to conduct swift and thorough investigations to bring the culprits to justice.

My heartfelt condolences go to the Matovu family, the entire Afrigo Band fraternity, and the whole music industry and Uganda at large.

May his soul Rest in Eternal Peace. We have lost a giant.

Today on "post legislative scrutiny" to assess the impact of laws and identify areas of improvement in the interest of our people. Thanks to the organisers and Westminster foundation for giving me the honor to address our people.
