Sustainability always mean continuity.

With additional support from UNAIDS, we were able to implement a liquid soap project under our “JUMPSTART PROGRAM “ which was initiated in 2021 with an aim of Empowering the affected LGBT+ community members with hands on and business management skills.

More than 30 LGBT+ individuals were direct beneficiaries of this project and were able to start up their small initiatives with some little start-up capital that was given to them.

What is Domestic Violence?

A pattern of DESTRUCTIVE, HARMFUL and ABUSIVE behavior INFLICTED upon a family member or a household member.

Physical, Sexual and Psychological are the types of Domestic Violence.

Domestic violence can be one of the most difficult types of situations to talk about and to escape from.

And, sadly, it can happen to anyone – women, men, children, between spouses and even friends. No one is immune to domestic violence.

“At any given moment you have the power to say this is not how the story is going to end.”

Don’t be silent, report any Domestic Violence action.

Let’s Walk Uganda (LWU) is an LGBTQI Human Rights Organisation found in Uganda Kampala. The Organization is known to have established the first ever safe housing shelter for homeless LGBTQI persons in Uganda, among so many other activities and projects it does for the well-being of the LGBTQI community in Uganda. On the 5th of August 2022, the Ugandan government launched yet another attack on the LGBTQI community when it closed The biggest Minority umbrella organization SMUG. Same day LWU was attacked, it’s offices were surrounded by police and our staff and homeless occupants had to be evacuated. In an environment were LGBTQI lives are already constantly put under threat, this attack poses an fatal danger.

Against this urgency LWU is now coming to you to seek your generous support to help us relocate and find a more secure office space as well as shelter for its occupants. We acutely need your monetary support to pay the rent of the new space, the transport for relocation, security infrastructure and therapeutic measures for traumas from the attacks - building up a more resilient spaces for precarious LGBTQI people for the future.

LWU invites you to stand with SMUG, and all the LGBTQI Community in Uganda. As LWU, we believe these fresh attacks are just the new beginning to a bigger government attempt to rob the LGBTQI community in Uganda of their fundamental Rights and Freedom. We ask you to stand with us in struggling against the live threatening repressions and in building safer spaces for the LGBTQI community in Uganda.

Thank you so much for your support and sharing this call! For any further information kindly reach us at: [email protected]

For the time being
I would advise every LGBT+ leader and the entire community to take more precautions regarding their lives

Meet with people you know very well and for a good reason that it cant be avoided but if it can please stay where you are.
Dont host friends at your places, its not safe at all. Among those there must be one desperate to make a shilling.
At this point right now your friend can be your foe. Our mindsets aint the same and lets face it people need money more at this time.

Just be careful, switch off your location on your smart phones and know that youre the driver of your life and you know the passengers to pick up on the way.

Just as our executive director is being threatened, any other leader or individual might be too threatened.
Just keep safe.

07/08/2022

The closure of Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) is an evidence of the Ugandan governments failure to respect and protect the rights & lives of LGBTQI+ people living in Uganda. We strongly condemn this act and call upon the government to respect the rights of LGBTQI+ Ugandans. We shall not cease to fight🏳️‍🌈.

Homophobic incidents continued to target our organization after SMUG was shut down since we were likely SMUG's collaborators.

On August 3, 2022, in the late evening, a concealed anti-LGBT+ activist, the police, neighborhood residents, and the village chairperson stormed our refuge and offices. Good enough, nobody was wounded or discovered at the scene since we were aware of possible attacks that could happen due to the challenging situation in Uganda currently.

When should really this end! Why should we work in fear! Are we not Ugandans just like others! Why should we be hunted like wild creatures! Why should we leave in fear!

In solidarity with
Let’s raise voices for this common cause since no one is safe.

Incorporate HIV into routine health interventions; Deliver care that is kind, respectful of human rights and without stigma; Ensure you are trained and aware of infection prevention and control and that you use appropriate measures; Protect your safety and that of the people you care for.

Re-commit to end HIV

Persistent inequalities and the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic require a renewed effort to end HIV as a public health threat by 2030.

In this regard, we conducted an HIV awareness and training session with support from our partners MARPI-Mulago where we carried out HIV testing, training our beneficiaries on how to protect their life and getting their suggestions on how best the services should be improved

Nobody should pass away from ignorance—it is bad enough that people are still dying from STIs and contracting Aids.
The spread of an illness that can be stopped is being fueled by ignorance and prejudice.

The conversation between Let’s Walk Uganda and Most At Risk Populations Initiative about the difficulties, consequences, and solutions to the hurdles affecting Uganda's key demographic groups and how to sustainably continue serving our beneficiaries was very beneficial to both organizations' efforts in the field of health.

Success is nothing more than the ability to do what you are good at and to do it well.

The success of our co-founder truly fills our hearts with joy.

You finished the marathon, you showed perseverance, and you fought the good fight.
Here's to you winning the battle and doing the right thing!

A significant accomplishment is an excellent opportunity to emphasize to someone their talent, diligence, and deserved!

You are a living proof that rewards can be had for making sacrifices in order to achieve an important objective.
Words cannot adequately express our pride!

Congratulations dear Mutebi Edward

Uganda Minorities Shelters Consortium (UMSC) is vaccinating sexual minorities against Covid-19 with a single dose of Johnson and Johnson vaccine every Saturday.

Those getting vaccinated for the first time, qualify for the Johnson and Johnson single dose vaccine. Those getting vaccinated for the second or third time will get the Pfizer or Astra vaccines following vaccine mixing protocols from the Ministry of Health. 21st May 2022 has been successfully completed. The remaining Saturday Dates are 28th May, 4th June and 11th June 2022.

Sexual Minorities with or without identity cards such as National IDs, School IDs, Work IDs, Passports, LC Cards etc. are welcome to register. Sexual Minorities that were last vaccinated once or twice are also welcome to register with or with out their vaccination cards. With security precautions in mind, special vaccination venue addresses will be sent to sexual minorities who have confirmed their vaccination appointment in advance, through the link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe7EWvqXJXalMflhPnUhp5rsmtlBZO8wsL8RawdLd2t5yRC4g/viewform

Alternative bookings can be made by WhatsApp and Calling +256702906536 or sending an email to [email protected].

Your immune system will be trained to recognize and eliminate the coronavirus with the Johnson & Johnson Vaccine. It's a one-dose vaccine that protects against serious illness in 85 percent of instances and is more effective against certain COVID-19 variants than others. Three doze vaccines have also proven to be more effective than two doze vaccines, against certain COVID-19 variants, thus booster vaccination is encouraged for those vaccinated twice already.

As the QEK Media, we decided to amplify the voice of the tranz community during the transgender awareness week.

Maureen a proud transgender woman at Wave of Legacy Alliance initiative Uganda says transgender persons are ever attacked beaten, tortured and undressed in public. Though hope we all believe the same way that such practices of injustices violate the rights of the transgender persons in our communities.

Loudly, say No to Transphobia everywhere. For it costs nothing to respect rights of the transgender persons yet persecution, torture, discrimination, condemnation and mob justice for transgender persons leads lose of lives.
