A recent study from the University of Cambridge has made a fascinating discovery: the genes responsible for intelligence are located on the X chromosome. As a quick refresher, humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes, with males having an XY genotype and females having an XX genotype. When a mother contributes an X chromosome to her child, and the father contributes either an X or Y chromosome, the resulting genotype determines the child's s*x. If the father contributes a Y chromosome, the child will be male (XY). Interestingly, this means that the X chromosome – and therefore intelligence – is inherited from the mother in the case of males.

The conclusion: "For boys, intelligence is indeed linked to their mothers' genetic contribution. But let's take this a step further: in a world where intelligence and consciousness are key to survival, I'd rather partner with someone who brings brains to the table than just beauty. After all, intelligence is a more valuable asset in the long run!"
