EU & US Perspectives on Regulation," addressing key topics like capital markets, ESG & sustainability, AI and cybersecurity, trade tariffs, and public advocacy. The event combines insightful keynotes, panels, and interactive problem-solving sessions with networking opportunities, allowing attendees to exchange ideas and build connections. Previous editions have featured prominent speakers, including US SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, former US Assistant Secretary Phyllis Borzi, and top Polish regulatory and financial leaders. On June 12–13, 2026, the Collegium Novum of the Jagiellonian University will host the 4th US-CEE Connection Weekend: Transatlantic Challenges in Law, Business & Policy - a conference organized by the Jagiellonian University in cooperation with The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

The program will feature panels and discussions with experts from Poland, the United States, and Europe, focusing on key challenges in today’s economy, law, and transatlantic policy - including artificial intelligence, capital markets, defense, sustainability, reindustrialization, Polish-American relations, the role of the American Polonia, and judicial systems.

💫We are honoured to welcome Prof. Jacek Jastrzębski, Chairman of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF), Deputy Head of Civil Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration at University of Warsaw Department, as a keynote speaker at the 4th US-CEE Connection Weekend 2026!💫🔥
🙌🏻Jacek Jastrzębski combined his work in the financial market with his academic and research activities. For more than ten years he served as Deputy Director of the Legal Department at Powszechna Kasa Oszczędności Bank Polski. He has been employed as Professor at the Department of Civil Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration at University of Warsaw, and he is also Deputy Head of that Department.
🙌🏻In his academic and research activities, he focuses on civil law, commercial law, and financial market law. He is an author/co-author of more than 100 academic publications. His doctoral and habilitation dissertations have received awards from Państwo i Prawo monthly. He participated, as a speaker and host, in a series of national and international conferences, including events regarding the financial market.
🙌🏻On 24 November 2023, the President of the Council of Ministers Mateusz Morawiecki appointed dr hab. Jacek Jastrzębski, prof. UW, for the position of the Chair of the KNF Board for the next term of office.

✨We are pleased to announce that one of the Keynote Speakers at USCEE Connection Weekend will be Jurand Drop - Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Finance of Poland.✨

He holds the position of Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Finance, where he supports the Minister in shaping macroeconomic policy and broader economic strategy, as well as in developing the regulatory framework of Poland’s financial markets. He also serves as Chief Speaker for the Discipline of Public Spending and represents the Minister of Finance in key governmental coordination bodies, including the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers.

Jurand Drop is an economist, public servant, and academic lecturer. After passing the competition for European civil servants, he worked at the European Commission (2005–2008) as an economist, contributing to the implementation of the i2010 Information Society programme and the Lisbon Strategy. He was involved in economic analysis within the Directorate-General for Information Society and Media, as well as in negotiations between the European Commission and EU Member States regarding economic reforms and cohesion policy programmes.

Between 2009 and 2011, he worked at the Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration, where he led the Unit for Strategy and Coordination of National Programs in the Information Society Department, focusing on the implementation of digital transformation reforms in Poland.

During Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2011, he served at the Permanent Representation of Poland to the EU in Brussels as Counsellor for Economic Analyses within the Coreper II team, where he also participated in work on EU responses to the Greek financial crisis.

In the following years (2012–2015), he worked as Counsellor for Telecommunications and Information Society, representing Poland in EU Council working groups on telecommunications, postal services, cybersecurity, data protection, and radio equipment regulation. In 2015, he was appointed Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Administration and Digitization, responsible for digital policy, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and e-government.

From 2020 to 2023, he returned to the European Commission, working as Country Coordinator for Finland, Lithuania, and Poland in the Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology.
In 2023, he was appointed Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Poland.
