Pleased to share Askari 1 has withdrawn its dog culling notice and will be assisting with relocation of dogs through TWS.
We held a meeting at the society’s office arranged by EARC with presence from Altamush Saeed, and Nabeeha Ayaz, President of TWS.
In every society, the pressure to cull is always applied by the citizens residing there, Askari 1 is no different. We had an in depth discussion on humane alternatives and the possibility of TNVR in the future. The management is currently onboard with us and does not want to resort to extreme measures.
Relocation is not the solution but it will always be better than culling. At present, we are stretched thin for resources and are the only organisation conducting mass relocations in Lahore at city scale. The burden on our staff is immense and we are trying not to crush under this pressure.
We have been having back-to-back meetings with societies on the possibility of implementing TNVR but all want immediate solutions: relocation. Sometimes, to alleviate pressure this is all we will be able to do.
Now more than ever we need your help. Donations are dangerously low. Our work has increased at an unprecendeted scale with pressure from every single society to relocate.
We need to demand TNVR implementation. Send letters to your societies, apply pressure on each to choose humane alternatives. Lahore High Court’s latest ruling categorically bans dog culling in Lahore YET we are unable to push this into implementation.
We are trying so hard not to give up and working tirelessly to find a way around the situation.
