TRIAL IN A CHILD ABUSE CASE
Successful advocacy in child abuse case: Suraj Masih Case: Suraj Masih, a 12yo Christian boy was subjected to sexual assault by a scoundrel, namely Zain alias Kuddu in a village near Kahna, Ferozpur Road, Lahore. The accused party was influential, feudal lord of the area, hence, they threatened the victim's father of dire consequences in case he pursues his case. They also offered huge amounts to him and pressurized for compromise. But he was determined to get justice. The only impediment in his way was that he could not afford to hire a counsel & also couldn't bear his travelling expenses to attend court hearings. Patron in Chief of Christian Lawyers Association in Pakistan - CLAP, being Chairman Center for Exodus,Pakistan. offered him Free Legal Aid & took up his case. We proceeded with the trial. The accused didn't even dare to face the trial, and, hence, is a declared proclaimed offender (PO) till to date. Case FIR # 1189/20, Dated 27-04-2020, U/S 377 PPC, Police Station Kahna, Lahore. Trail at Court of Sessions, Lahore. (The State vs Zain alias Kuddu).
