A consultative meeting on the Punjab Christian Marriage Bill 2026 was convened on 30 May 2026 at Faletti’s Hotel, Lahore, under the leadership of Archbishop Dr. Azad Marshall, Moderator / President Bishop, Church of Pakistan.
The meeting brought together the Bishop of Hyderabad, the Bishop of Faisalabad, the Bishop of Karachi and Balochistan, representatives of various Churches, legal experts, and members of civil society. Mr. Christopher Falbous, MPA and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Minorities, also participated in the deliberations.
Participants engaged in a constructive discussion on the proposed amendments to the Punjab Christian Marriage Bill 2026, drawing upon the recommendations of Church scholars and legal practitioners. The consultation focused on strengthening the legislative framework to ensure greater protection of the rights, dignity, and welfare of Christian men, women, and families, particularly young people.
The meeting concluded with prayers led by Archbishop Dr. Azad Marshall, who emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and consensus-building to advance a comprehensive and inclusive legal framework for the Christian community in Punjab.
