A fellowship and interactive discussion session was successfully held at St. Matthew's Church, Awan market, Lahore, under the leadership of Sadaf Yaqub, Executive Secretary of the National Women's Commission and Ecumenical relations.
The session focused on Christian Married & Family Life and the Role of Christian Women, providing participants with an opportunity to share experiences and perspectives on various aspects of personal, family, social, educational, and spiritual development.
Through constructive dialogue and group discussions, participants reflected on contemporary challenges and explored ways to strengthen family values, women's leadership, community engagement, and spiritual growth.
The gathering fostered fellowship, mutual encouragement, and a renewed commitment to the well-being and empowerment of Christian women and families.

A consultative meeting on the Punjab Christian Marriage Bill 2026 was convened on 30 May 2026 at Faletti’s Hotel, Lahore, under the leadership of Archbishop Dr. Azad Marshall, Moderator / President Bishop, Church of Pakistan.

The meeting brought together the Bishop of Hyderabad, the Bishop of Faisalabad, the Bishop of Karachi and Balochistan, representatives of various Churches, legal experts, and members of civil society. Mr. Christopher Falbous, MPA and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Minorities, also participated in the deliberations.

Participants engaged in a constructive discussion on the proposed amendments to the Punjab Christian Marriage Bill 2026, drawing upon the recommendations of Church scholars and legal practitioners. The consultation focused on strengthening the legislative framework to ensure greater protection of the rights, dignity, and welfare of Christian men, women, and families, particularly young people.

The meeting concluded with prayers led by Archbishop Dr. Azad Marshall, who emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and consensus-building to advance a comprehensive and inclusive legal framework for the Christian community in Punjab.

LAHORE, May 20, 2026:
In a significant step towards promoting women empowerment and community awareness, a fruitful meeting was held in Lahore between Ms. Sadaf Yaqub, Executive Secretary National Women Commission & Ecumenical Relations, Diocese of Raiwind, Church of Pakistan, and Rev. Shahzad Gill, Senior Chaplain to the Moderator, Church of Pakistan, with SP Aqeela Niaz Naqvi In charge Punjab Constabulary Battalion 1 Punjab Police at her office in Lahore.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on important matters related to women empowerment, awareness initiatives, and self-defence training programs for women and young girls. The participants also discussed the possibility of inviting SP Aqeela Niaz Naqvi as a mentor and keynote resource person for upcoming seminars and awareness sessions being organized for women and youth.

SP Aqeela Niaz Naqvi appreciated the initiative and assured her full support and cooperation for future collaborative efforts aimed at empowering women, promoting awareness, and encouraging confidence and safety among young girls in society.

Today I had a productive and encouraging meeting with *Ms. Sonia Asher Parliamentary Secretary , Human Rights & Minority Affairs Department-Government of Punjab* at the office of the Ministry of Human Rights & Minority Affairs, Gulberg-Lahore.
The meeting focused on creating awareness among minority girls and exploring opportunities for different trainings, skill development programs, and certification initiatives through government support and guidance. Ms. Sonia Asher assured full cooperation from the Government of Punjab for the empowerment and uplift of minority women and girls.
It was also shared that the vision of *Honorable CM Punjab Madam Maryam Nawaz* is to see women become strong, empowered, educated, and self-reliant members of society.
The meeting reflected a positive step towards collaboration for women empowerment, inclusion, and equal opportunities for minority communities in Punjab.

Today, in the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the Church of Pakistan (United) and the Primate, the Most Revd Dr Azad Marshall, Bishop of Raiwind and Moderator of the Church of Pakistan.

Let us pray for:

🙏 Faithful witness in a minority context – that the Church may continue to live out the Gospel with courage, humility and hope among people of many faiths.

🙏 Religious freedom and peaceful coexistence – that all communities in Pakistan may live together with mutual respect, dignity and security.

🙏 Theological education and leadership formation – for institutions such as St Thomas’ Theological College, Karachi, and for all training programmes equipping clergy and lay leaders for ministry.

🙏 Care for vulnerable communities – for those facing poverty, discrimination or hardship, that the Church’s ministries may bring practical support and the love of Christ.
