BAIL GRANTED IN BOAT BASIN SHEESHA CAFE CASE
Karachi South Court | PS Boat Basin
Apex Law Chambers successfully secured post-arrest bail for all 6 accused arrested in the widely reported Boat Basin sheesha raid dated 5th May 2026.
Police had registered an FIR under sections 269, 278 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code, arrested the manager and staff, and seized over 40 hookahs. The matter received immediate media attention, but legal due process was yet to follow.
Before the Honourable Court at Karachi South, Adv. Malik Waseem Associated by Arsalan Arain of Apex Law Chambers argued that section 269 PPC and section 278 PPC are bailable and non-prohibitory. Therefore, bail is the rule. The defence also highlighted that the accused had remained in police custody for over 35 hours in breach of the 24-hour mandate under section 61 CrPC, while the recovery had already been completed.
The Honourable Court was pleased to refuse police remand and admit all accused to bail upon furnishing surety.
At Apex Law Chambers, we maintain that media headlines do not decide guilt. Courts do. We remain committed to protecting businesses and individuals from misuse of criminal law in regulatory matters.
