The University of Dublin is inviting submissions of Papers in the second issue of;

Dublin University Law Journal

Submissions are invited in the following categories:

(a) Articles and Review Articles: These should be no more than 10,000 words including footnotes, and should contain an abstract of no more than 150 words.

(b) Recent Developments Notes (Cases, Legislation, etc): These should be no more than 5,000 words including footnotes, and should contain an abstract of no more than 100 words

Deadline: 14th August, 2026

Bills At Alert - National Assembly

The National Assembly of Pakistan approved two important bills for Islamabad Capital Territory. One bill introduces penalties for parents or guardians who refuse to vaccinate children against polio, while the second bans the use of plastic covers on books.

1️⃣Polio Eradication and Rehabilitation Bill 2026

Said Bill makes polio immunisation compulsory for all eligible children according to the national vaccination schedule. Parents who refuse vaccination without a valid medical reason can face fines starting from Rs50,000, increasing for repeated offences, and in some cases imprisonment. The bill also links vaccination proof with birth certificates, school admissions, examinations, and passport issuance for children under 18.

2️⃣Islamabad Capital Territory (Prohibition of Plastic Book Covers) Act 2025

The said bill bans single-use plastic covers used on books in the federal capital. However, exceptions are allowed for laminated hardcovers, archival collections, and books where plastic is an essential part of the material. Sellers violating the law can be fined Rs50,000 for the first offence and Rs100,000 for subsequent offences, while authorities are empowered to inspect premises and seize prohibited materials.
