When does an accident become a legal liability?
In the recent interview of Atty. Alyssa Aviles-Badaguas with Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (One at Heart, Jessica Soho), she shared legal insights on the possible liabilities arising from the tragic drowning incident involving student-athletes, particularly on negligence, duty of care, and the responsibilities of schools, coaches, and other parties involved.
While not every accident automatically results in liability, the law asks an important question: Was there a duty to protect, and was that duty properly fulfilled?
As always, accountability must be based on evidence, facts, and due process.
Most importantly, we remember the victims and extend our deepest sympathies to their families and loved ones. No legal discussion can diminish the profound loss they have suffered. May they find strength, comfort, and justice as they navigate this difficult time.🕊️
