Minsan, hindi inaallow ni Lord na ibigay ang mga bagay na gusto natin, hindi dahil hindi natin deserve. Kundi dahil mas may nakalaan sa inyo. Trust the process ika nga nila. Kaya kung natalo kau sa isang mahalagang laro, hindi ibig sabihin na hindi nyo deserve. Yan ang magiging simula at daan para sa rurok ng inyong tagumpay sa darating na panahon.

Hector Calma

The Director didn’t score much, but he was often San Miguel’s most valuable player on the court during the team’s late ’80s dynasty.

Calma was the team’s one constant: he won with Abet Guidaben at center, and he won with Ramon Fernandez at center. It hardly mattered if he was setting up Elmer Reyes, Samboy Lim, Ato Agustin, or Allan Caidic. Calma was charged with finding a way for the Beermen to win, and they did.

Ginebra’s “Magic Man” Dondon Ampalayo had a positively magical rookie season in 1986, helping the franchise win its first title in franchise history to win Rookie of the Year. He had all the makings of a superstar, a 6-foot-3 big man with three-point range, slashing skills, and a nice touch around the basket.

In 1999, San Miguel traded its incumbent star Nelson Asaytono midway through the season along with Will Antonio to Pop Cola in exchange for role players Nic Belasco, Dwight Lago, and Boybits Victoria. It signaled that the Beermen were banking on rookie Danny Seigle to take over scoring cudgels.

Seigle didn’t disappoint. He led the Beermen to the championships in the last two tournaments of the season, and was named Rookie of the Year.
