WE DEDICATE THIS NPC VICTORY
TO VICTORIOUS DEAD MEN OF
PRESS FREEDOM

(To Boss Jerry S. Yap, Dennis F. Fetalino, Percival Carag Mabasa aka "PERCY LAPID" )

Today, as we prepare the response of individual defendants in the case of National Press Club against the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) at the Supreme Court, we dedicate this victory to former NPC President JERRY SIA YAP.

He must be happy now in heaven seeing the victorious fruits of his unequalled heart and soul that he poured with us who then formed part of the NPC brilliant legal minds that included Atty. Michael J. Mella.

We also dedicate this to former NPC president Roy Carag Mabasa and Louie D. Logarta. Both men tirelessly inspired these brilliant ideas on how to win these cases against that big and well-oiled law firm of the GSIS Legal Services Division.

We rose from virtual obscurity conducting office in one small room in the Third Floor of the disputed storied NPC Bldg. Kidding aside, I was then a newly-passed Bar Exam survivor that even a Miriam Defensor Santiago could hardly pass.

JERRY YAP: HIS MEMORIES
SHALL LIVE FOREVER

The best example of "a man whose memory is just" is MR. JERRY SIA YAP.
I take time posting this because I cannot stop the urge from a man who is the only one I know to be VERY GENEROUS TO ALL even to the point that the benefactors of his generosity committed a fault against him.
This man fits perfectly to the prayer prompt from King James app popped out this passage from Proverbs 10:7, which says
"The MEMORY of the JUST is blessed; the NAME of the WICKED will rit."
To explain this, let me re-post my post about him a few days ago, which runs this way --

EXCEEDINGLY UNFORGETABLE: 2021
***
The year 2021 is exceedingly unforgetable for me because it is the year when I lost the most number of close friends.
The last is the closest to me: JERRY SIA YAP.
On 17 November 2021, he was pronounced dead two days after subjecting his self voluntarily to a surgical operation taking off his liver.
He was yet so young. He was 59 years old.
Did it obey the rule the the good men die young?
Or that bad grass never dies early?
He is the only man I have known who does not know to get angry, who gives his best, money or otherwise, just so his help is effective, who does it to thousands of friends like me, who helps friends to be self-reliant and able to stand on own, and who is a man you can describe to be the best in anything or everything.
He left me at a time I needed him the most because I have had no means of earning because the Supreme Court suspended me for one year that I cannot practice law just because I posted on Facebook a petition for the declaration of nullity of marriage of a case of an opponent who married my client by hiding the fact he was already married to another woman.
Boss Jerry died at the time when I was so down due to diabetes but which I managed to survive on the strong will to avoid rice and all other carbs.
Earlier, on January 9, 2021, at 6:09 pm, my beloved sister Arlene Priscilla “Ging” Cataluña Causing died of breast cancer.
Boss Jerry gave me P100,000 to help in the chemo and Herceptin of Ging, whose death has left on my shoulders her four children who now look at me and my wife Au as their parents.
After knowing his death, my mother Marianita Catolico Cataluña Causing screamed: “There is no more Boss Jerry who will give me Christmas gift.” He used to call my mom “MAMITA.”
You are exceedingly cruel, 2021.
The year 2021 also took the life of my kumpare Sonny Lim who died due to covid-19.
The year 2021 also took dozens of lives of other friends and former co-workers at Philippine Journalists, Inc.
The year 2021 made me see burning candles as profile photos. See less
