Extending Legal Service Beyond Our Community ⚖️🤝

Last weekend, Atty. Harvey Dela Torre joined a free legal aid initiative in Bogo City, extending legal assistance to members of the community affected by the earthquake.

Though based in Carcar, the call to serve goes beyond city boundaries. Even as time passes after a disaster, the legal concerns and challenges faced by affected families can remain.

A memorable milestone for Atty. Harvey Dela Torre as he joined fellow new lawyers and newly appointed judges during the Honoring of New Lawyers and Newly Appointed Judges organized by the IBP Cebu Chapter.

The occasion also provided the opportunity to meet and share the moment with respected members of the judiciary, including Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Geraldine Faith Econg, Executive Judges Anacleto Debalucos and Nelson Leyco, and Judge Alwen Paqueo.

From studying the law to now standing among members of the profession, moments like these serve as a reminder that passing the Bar is not the end of the journey, but the beginning of a greater responsibility to uphold justice and serve others.

Coming Home to Inspire the Next Generation ⚖️🎓

A meaningful homecoming for Atty. Harvey Dela Torre as he returned to Borbon, Cebu, the community where he grew up, to serve as Guest Speaker for Professionals Night 2026 at the Borbon New Sports Complex.

The evening brought together the municipality’s newest professionals and graduates in celebration of their hard work, perseverance, and achievements. For Atty. Dela Torre, it was a special opportunity to return home and share a message of encouragement with a new generation of Borbonanons beginning their own professional journeys.

The occasion was made even more memorable alongside his family, Vice Mayor Noel T. Dotillos, Mayor Nico V. Dotillos, and Liga President Himaya T. Tancawan.

A Milestone in a Journey of Service ⚖️

Last April, Atty. Harvey Dela Torre received a Certificate of Recognition at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall of Justice, marking a meaningful chapter in his journey through the 2025 Bar Examinations and into the legal profession.

The recognition, bestowed by Executive Judge Nelson G. Leyco (RTC) and Executive Judge Genevieve C. Tabada-Lawas (MTCC), represents not only a professional milestone, but also a greater responsibility to serve through the practice of law.

Atty. Dela Torre also carries with him the guidance of his mentor, Hon. Christine Muga-Abad, under whom he previously served. Her example as a jurist and advocate, particularly for women, continues to influence the values he brings into his own legal practice today.

Behind every milestone are years of perseverance, the guidance of mentors, and a continuing commitment to the profession.

Some encounters have a meaningful way of coming full circle.

While assisting a client with a bail application, Atty. Harvey Dela Torre crossed paths once again with Fiscal Olive Hebron, who had previously been one of his mentors during his time as a court employee.

Among the lessons she shared was a simple but lasting reminder: when the workday ends, leave work behind and give your full presence to your family.

Years later, they met again under different circumstances, this time as colleagues in the legal profession.

It is moments like these that remind us that the practice of law is shaped not only by experience, but also by the mentors, lessons, and people we encounter along the way.

Empowering Women Through Legal Knowledge ⚖️

Atty. Harvey Dela Torre had the privilege of speaking before 1,000 women from across the barangays of Carcar City in celebration of National Women’s Month last March.

The event provided an opportunity to share legal knowledge, promote awareness, and engage with women in the community on matters that empower and protect them.
