Jim Tepase, and our fellow student leader and current BOCC Chairman, LE Marc Ermino, inspire you to become better law students, embodied with devotion, hard work, discipline, and conviction in serving the people.

May you continue striving, not only to finish law school, but to become the kind of lawyers our communities truly need and deserve.

Paragons, thank you for standing with us today in our back-to-back programs. Through this initiative, we were able to provide free meals not only for jeepney drivers but also for taxi and Grab drivers, bus drivers and conductors, Move It riders, guards, and other Filipinos who continue to endure each day despite the worsening political and economic crisis in our country.

These workers and individuals from humble backgrounds spend long hours on the road and in service, surviving on low wages while carrying the weight of rising prices of commodities. Yet, they remain neglected by the very institutions mandated to serve and protect them. The inaction and indifference of those in power only deepen the suffering of the people.

With this small gesture, we hope that, even in the slightest way, we were able to alleviate the burden they continue to face.

As members of Paragons and as law students, we refuse to turn a blind eye to these realities. It is our oath and duty to stand with the people, to serve those whose voices are ignored, and to fight for the dignity, welfare, and justice that every Filipino rightfully deserves.

We would like to congratulate you for officially making it into law school. Studying law is a privilege that not everyone is given the opportunity to experience. Here, we do not only study the intricacies of the law, we also discover ourselves, our strengths, our limits, and the kind of person we aspire to become.

However, one does not enter law school unprepared. It is important to know the fundamentals, the realities, and the discipline that come with this journey. With that, let us learn valuable insights and practical tips from one of our esteemed seniors in law school and from one of the UCC lawyers who conquered not only law school, but also the Bar Examination.

Jeepney drivers are one of the Philippines modern heroes. Amidst the political unrest in our government, and economical instability by reason of rapid increase of fuel cost which increases the price of our commodity, they have not ceased to show up on the road.

When the government asked them to make a sacrifice, they have done so with gentle hearts. Many of them suffer in silence as they look at the little amount they are able to bring home to their families after a long day of work. But still, they continue to show up, not only for their family but also for the commuters.

Indeed, for us ordinary commuters, jeepney drivers are our heroes. And now, it is our turn to give back, even in the simplest way we can. This small gift symbolizes our grateful hearts, and a message that their sacrifices were seen by us.

Happy Labor Day to every worker who quietly perseveres, continuing to move forward with strength and passion, even when the days are difficult.

We want you to know that your efforts are seen and deeply appreciated. Thank you for your sacrifices, dedication, and hard work. Your contributions uplift not only your families, but also help shape a better future for every Filipino.

A Legacy of Voices: Defining Womanhood

As Women’s Month comes to a close, we paused to reflect and asked the women of the Debate Council one important question:

“What does it truly mean to be a woman?"

The answers were as diverse as the women themselves—stories of strength and softness, resilience and vulnerability, growth, identity, and self-expression. Each voice carried a different truth.

Because in the world of debate, we are taught to find our voice, defend our stance, and never back down from a challenge. But womanhood has taught us that our greatest argument is the lives we choose to lead.

Whether through the logic of a well-placed point or the empathy of a shared story, the women of the Debate Council are proving that being a woman means having the ultimate right of reply to anyone who tries to define us.

Here’s to every story, every voice, and every way of being a woman! 💜
