Great day out on Saturday watching a brave group jump off a bridge to raise funds for a great cause to benefit our youth, the Graeme Di**le Foundation.

I took particular pleasure watching my Snap trainer G (would’ve liked to push him off myself 🤣) and mate Carla jump! Well done to the group and to all of the supporters packing AJ’s 🥇

Phew! We made it! A full week is always tough after last week's short one; and Level 1 is kicking life back off with a bang. It is great to see all the busyness out and about :-)

Hi all,

As of Thursday 14 May 2020 we are fully operational, but with social distancing, a contact register and appropriate hygiene processes in place.

To ensure everyone’s safety given the close proximity of our Chambers, we will still be primarily undertaking phone or Skype appointments rather than in person meetings while NZ remains within the Alert Level system. To that end, any physical attendances by clients which cannot be facilitated electronically will be limited and strictly by appointment. Of course if you have any cold or flu like symptoms, you must not attend.

We are learning more about Court processes day to day but, going forward, your scheduled Court appearances will now be proceeding unless we advise you otherwise. Support persons may not be able to attend Court with you as the Court House is only able to accommodate limited numbers.

We remain fully contactable during usual business hours via email or telephone should you have any queries or concerns.

Stay safe everyone.

The next challenge for Southland parents will start tomorrow with Distance Learning. Individual schools seem to have been managing expectations of students themselves and there have been no rigid rules as such, set by the MOE.

All parents should have heard from their school Principal and teachers by now with workload and schedule information, as well as information on how to access work material. If you haven’t – contact your child’s school via email / messenger / school stream ASAP.

For those sharing parenting between homes – make sure both parents email details are with the school / teachers, so you both receive the same information at the same time, and try and agree between you on a consistent schooling schedule for the child(ren) between homes.

I checked out the English school channel on CH 502 today and it looks very good! Generally, it appears to cater for Junior levels in the morning from 9am, and Senior (12-15 year olds) after lunch until 3pm. So if you get stuck or want somewhere to start – utilise it!

Along the way – one of my favourite specialists Nigel Latta spoke to all of this last night, and left us with some timely advice - our children will be ok and don’t stress! Link below:

Nigel Latta provides some tips for stressed parents as their children begin term 2 online today.
