Special visit to the High Court today. Congratulations ! 👏

Today’s judge gave beautiful reminders that:

⭐️ Becoming a lawyer goes beyond title & requires careful service to others.
⭐️ We may be oppositions or disagree strongly, but mutual respect & collegiality will go a long way.
⭐️ When law gets stressful & demanding, we are to look after ourselves & each other.

Congratulations Annabelle on your admission as a Barrister & Solicitor of the High Court of NZ.

It’s 2025 at JH LAW. Just like that, there were four of us (well… five if you include Charlie 🐾😄)

After years of building the firm, 2025 became a year of growth in a different way. Michelle, Tayla & Annabelle joined the team, each bringing their own strengths, personalities & perspectives to JH LAW.

2025 started off with Bali 🇮🇩, where amongst law firm events, there was also time to slow down, explore 1000 year old temples & gain a little perspective along the way.

One of the biggest lessons of the year was learning that growth isn’t always about doing more alone. Helping others learn, develop & succeed has been one of the most rewarding parts of building JH LAW.

Watching our law clerks gain confidence, capability & experience has been a real highlight of 2025.

The legal profession is stronger through investment in the next generation & it will be exciting to see the contribution they each make in the years ahead ⚖️✨

If 2025 was to be wrapped into one word, that would be 🔥

It’s 2024 at JH LAW. Our work & brand were getting recognised. I honestly don’t think we were doing things much differently, but we were aiming to do the same things again & again, consistently 😌

✔️ More networking.
✔️ More event attendances & hosting.
✔️ More celebrating & visiting local NZ businesses.

And of course, privately, working hard to support our clients become leaders in their respective industries 🔥

It’s 2023 at JH LAW. This may have been our most transformative year 🔥

1 & 19 - JH LAW opened its first office. Massive OMG moment! 🙈🤩😍 So much support in that room, couldn’t be more appreciative.

2 - Got on the Hampton Downs leaderboard for women’s sprint track. V proud. Ya girl loves a fast car 💨

3 - Hosted my first webinar for the New Zealand Law Society ⚖️

4 & 5 - The speaking roles started rolling in, but this one was particularly special because my little daughter got to see her mum present to a room full of business professionals 🥹

6 - Saw some wooly cuties at a great kiwi institution (fun fact, I used to work at The Agrodome Rotorua) 🐑

7 - Supporting our local designers & our love for fashion at Maggie Marilyn 💖

8 - 10 The biggest audience I’ve even spoken in front of at 2023’s M2 Women’s Magazine conference with over 400+ guests in Auckland 🎤

11 - Another pinch me moment, speaking at LawFest 2023 amongst some of the biggest names in law. Huge respect for all the speakers and my fellow panellists 😌

12 - JH LAW got some merch ✌️

13 - Continued networking, meeting some fabulous names in property including the Opes Partners founders 😊

14 - Lots of little getaways with the family 🏝️

15 - Attendee my first New Zealand Fashion Week as an industry delegate through JH LAW 👠

16 - 18 Attended work conferences across Sydney & Taiwan. Incredible 🇹🇼 🇦🇺

It’s 2022 at JH LAW. Goals then were simple - get out into the community, meet people & build genuine relationships ☕️🤝

⭐️ Doing over 300+ coffees & events across that first full year was full on. But at a time, where a lot of the industry didn’t know who Janey Haringa was let alone JH LAW as a brand, networking this way made sense.

⭐️ Countless events were attended solo 🙈 Walking into rooms nervous, knowing barely a soul… but always leaving glad to have attended.

⭐️ The year quickly became a year of coffees, conversations & connections ☕️✨

⭐️ Simple conversations about shared values & interests would kick off the connection where if the timing was right business would naturally follow 🤍

⭐️ Then somewhere amongst having no office & lots of driving… JH LAW got its first Tesla 🚗⚡️

5 years ago, JH LAW was born ✨⚖️

To celebrate, we’re loading a series looking back at each year of the journey - starting with 2021 moments 🫶

1️⃣ Our 2021 launch party being lunch at 💙
2️⃣ Moments with fellow lawyers who turned into such good friends 😊
3️⃣ Zoom meetings with clients during lockdown 😷
4️⃣ Networking through 300+ coffees & events across the first year (sometimes with Charlie) 🐾
5️⃣ Filming YouTube videos at home about commercial law 🙈😆 (worked though - many a client found us this way)
6️⃣ She didn’t know it then, but that construction site was going to be the future JH LAW office ☀️
7️⃣ Content, content, content. Learning the valuable lesson of an online presence, via consistent & positive posts.
8️⃣ When clients send thank you flowers 🌷🥹
9️⃣ Figuring out what 2022 might bring for JH LAW….

In 2021, the firm was influenced by COVID lockdowns for much of the time, but we kept building our systems for a stronger future. If 2021 was to be wrapped into one word, that would be 🔥

In many businesses we see, they’re two different people.
But in plenty of businesses, they’re the same person switching hats daily 🎩🪖⛑️

Big ideas are important. But ex*****on is everything.

Which one comes naturally to you? Is there one that you’ve had to train yourself to become?

Can you tell which one is Janey and which is Charlie? 🥰
