📢 Samoan Quota Resident Visa — VAC Service Update

From 7 September 2026, Samoan Quota Resident Visa applicants will submit their paper applications, supporting documents, and application fee directly to the Apia Visa Application Centre (VAC).

The important part: Immigration New Zealand Apia will still assess and make the decision on applications.

This change only affects how applications and documents are received and digitised.

If you’re preparing a Samoan Quota Resident Visa application, make sure you follow the updated submission process from September.

🎉 Two great approvals for one family’s New Zealand journey.

We’re pleased to share another positive outcome, with both a Partner of a New Zealander Work Visa and a Dependent Child of a New Zealander Visitor Visa approved.

These approvals mean an important step forward for the family, giving them the opportunity to be together in New Zealand and continue building their future with more certainty.

Family-based visa applications often require careful preparation, clear supporting evidence, and close attention to the relevant immigration requirements, so it is always rewarding to see a successful result.

Congratulations to our clients on these approvals and this exciting new chapter ahead.

📩 If you are exploring partnership or dependent child visa options, contact NZIES for professional guidance tailored to your situation.

📢 Parent Resident Visa Changes from 5 October 2026

A new hybrid selection model is coming for Parent Resident Visa Expressions of Interest (EOIs).

From 5 October:

✔ Around 90% of EOIs will be selected in date order
✔ Around 10% will continue to be selected through a random ballot
✔ The annual cap remains 2,500 visas approved in principle
✔ EOIs expiring on or after 5 October do not need to be resubmitted

The change is designed to give more priority to people who have been waiting longer, while still giving newer applicants a chance to be selected earlier.

More information about EOI pool positions is expected after the new model begins.

📩 If you’re planning a Parent Resident Visa application, contact NZIES for guidance on your options.

Immigration fraud doesn't stop at the border, and neither do we.

An Immigration New Zealand investigation has contributed to the arrest of a former visa consultant in the Philippines on allegations of syndicated illegal recruitment.

Working closely with the Department of Migrant Workers and the Philippine Embassy in New Zealand has helped protect migrants from harm, support accountability, and reduce the risk of more people falling victim to immigration fraud.

A Job Board Built Differently

Finding published jobs in New Zealand is easy. Finding employers who are genuinely open to skilled migrants and overseas talent can be much harder.

That’s why NZIES created NZVisaJobs.

We’re building a job platform with a specific focus:

🌏 Global talent looking for New Zealand opportunities
🏢 New Zealand Accredited Employers
🤝 Employers willing to consider migrant talent
🔎 Jobs relevant to people wanting to work in New Zealand

Rather than trying to be another general job board, NZVisaJobs is focused on bringing migrants and New Zealand employers together in one place.

Whether you're already in New Zealand or searching from overseas, our goal is to make it easier to find the opportunities that are actually relevant to you.

And for employers, we want to provide a direct way to reach skilled people from around the world who are actively looking for their next opportunity in New Zealand.

Global Talent. New Zealand Opportunities.

Life After New Zealand Residency

Getting residency is a major milestone — but it’s also the beginning of a new chapter.

As a New Zealand resident, you may be able to:

✔ Access public healthcare
✔ Study and enrol in education
✔ Build a longer-term future here
✔ Potentially work towards citizenship later

It’s also important to keep your travel conditions current and continue meeting your responsibilities as a resident.

Residency opens the door. What comes next is building your life in New Zealand.
