Finally A Graduate!

I am thrilled to share with you the exciting news of my :

1. Graduation from the prestigious Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria with a Second Class Upper;

2. Successful retirement as Chief Justice of ABU SRC Judiciary, Chief Judge, LAWSAN Judiciary, ABU Chapter, Chairman, Students Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee and Chairman, Students’ Body of Benchers Screening Committee; and the

3. Recognition by the Faculty of Law with a LETTER OF COMMENDATION in appreciation of the services I rendered to the Faculty and its students as Chief Justice and Chairman, Students Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee.

The above is, without doubt, a major milestone in my life and professional career.

It is my firm conviction that, Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria has prepared me more than enough and has given me numerous opportunities in realizing my potentials.

May I, premised on the above, humbly use this medium to extend my deepest appreciation to the entire academic and non-academic staff of the faculty under the visionary leadership of our broad-minded and public-spirited Dean of Law, Dr. Salim B. Discharging administrative duties from the student Judge's Chambers, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

The groundbreaking legal competition titled "Hon. Justice Mukhtar Mustapha Kaigama Locus Classicus Cases Competition", organized in honor of Kaigama Mustapha, Esq., one of the iconic Chief Justice of Ahmadu Bello University Students' Representatives Council Judiciary to celebrate his immense contribution to Ahmadu Bello University SRC Judiciary and outstanding mentorship to law students' of the University was an outstanding success. The event was graced by the learned Justices of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and High Court of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

Over 27 students from the seven Chambers of the faculty participated in the competition at the end of which TEAM A emerged as the winners of the competition.

The competition was indeed enlightening and educating being the first of its kind organised in the faculty.

The Ahmadu Bello University Students' Representatives Council Judiciary and the entire students of the faculty will forever remain grateful to the honouree.

The groundbreaking Female Moot Championship organised by the Ahmadu Bello University Students' Representatives Council Judiciary in collaboration with the Body of Benchers, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in honour of Ishaka Mudi Dikko, SAN, was an outstanding success. The event was graced by a lot of dignitaries to wit: The Deputy Director, Kongo Campus, the Dean of Law represented by the Assistant Dean, the Chief Security Officer, the Head of Department, Private Law Department, the NBA Chairman ably represented, some distinguished lecturers, student leaders, etc.

The courtroom was filled to the brim as the two competing teams: Equity and Realist Chambers exchanged a lot of legal fireworks. The championship was enlightening, edifying and, of course, an unforgettable experience both for the counsel, the invited guests, and even the members of the gallery as the Learned Silk was immensely delighted by the legal erudition and incredibly amazing legal advocacy displayed by the students. At the end of the competition, the following individuals and chambers bagged the various awards respectively:
Ni-imah Salman Adeniyi won the Best Oralist Award, Fatima Muhamamd Garba won the Best Advocate Award, Hauwwa Mustapha as the Most Decorous Advocate, Habiba Amira Aliyu as the Best Dressed Advocate;
Precision Chambers as the Best Brief Writer;
Realist Chambers as the 1st Runner Up while Equity Chambers emerged the Champion. The Learned Silk gave about N1 million in prize money to the teams and some of the excellent counsel.

Apart from the edifying competition, another highlight of the event was the unveiling of a Board containing the list of the past Chief Justices and Chief Registrars of the Ahmadu Bello University Students' Representatives Council Judiciary and the legal souvenirs that were sponsored by the learned silk himself. The attendees did not only go with brain full of legal knowledge and thrills, but also with quality souvenirs!

The event was indeed a success!

History Has Been Made

The Call to Bar Ceremony of the 293 newly admitted students into the Ahmadu Bello University Students' Bar organised by the Body of Benchers, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria on the 17th day of July, 2023 was an outstanding success. During the ceremony, the sole applicant for the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Ahmadu Bello University and three Notaries Public were sworn in.

The occasion was graced by many distinguished dignitaries to wit: the Dean, Students Affairs, the Director, Kongo Campus, the Assistant Dean of Law, the Acting Chief Security Officer, Kongo Campus, the Chairman of NBA, Zaria Branch, the Chairman, Young Lawyers' Forum, Zaria Branch, the HOD, Islamic Law Department and the Deputy Director, School of Post-graduate Studies, the Chief Magistrate, Rigasa, the Head of Chambers, Umar Musa Danfulani and Co., the Publicity Secretary of NBA, Zaria Branch, the Principal Partner of Blackstone Chambers, Maryam Abacha American University, Maradi and United Nations and African Union Ambassador and many other legal practitioners too numerous to be exhaustively mentioned.

The ceremony was a huge success as it reflected many features of the conventional Call to Bar, including a procession by the Benchers from Moot Court Complex to the venue of the event as can be seen in the pictures and clips attached hereunder. Indeed, history has been made.

Our deepest appreciation to our distinguished Dean of Law, Associate Prof. Salim B Magashi, the Assistant Dean Undergraduate, Dr. Umar Sani Bebeji and all other distinguished lecturers at the faculty.
