“He signed it because he trusted him.”
Three months later, trouble knocked.
Emeka had borrowed money from his friend, Musa. Musa gave him a simple-looking document and said:
“Just here. It’s only an agreement between friends.”
Emeka smiled, signed, and went home.
But there was one thing he did not do.
He did not read the document.
Months later, Musa demanded not only the money Emeka borrowed, but also an additional amount stated in the document.
Emeka was shocked.
“But you told me it was just a simple agreement!”
Musa replied quietly: “You signed it.”
And that was when Emeka learned a painful lesson:
A signature is not decoration. It can become evidence against you.
The law does not always ask, “Did you trust the person who gave you the document?”
Sometimes the question is: “What exactly did you sign?”
📌 Before you sign any agreement, read it. Understand it. Ask questions. If necessary, let a lawyer explain its meaning and consequences to you.
Because when ink meets paper, trust may fade, but the document remains.
Don’t let a beautiful friendship become an ugly courtroom story.
