London, I don’t know how to say goodbye 😭 I’ve had the best time.

I found the funniest and loveliest boy of my dreams, had very (very!) drunk nights with some of the best people, travelled to some amazing places, got assigned the wrong spirit animal, was almost murdered by a neighbour, worked on some great projects with amazing people, ate some gooooooood food and just generally had the time of my life.

Thanks to everyone who made it such a fun time, please come visit, ok?!

Melbourne, we’ll see you in December ✌️

⭐ NEW YORK ADVENTURES - DAY TWO ⭐

My first full day in NEW YAAAWK 🗽

Up and out early, was just so surreal taking in Times Square, in the daytime 😱

Tasted my first of many American McDs breakfast, which is slightly different but still tasty lol 🥞

Crazy walking around and seeing how close together all the Broadway theaters seem to be, so handy! 😁

I had decided The Notebook would be my very first Broadway show, so I got in the rush queue about 9am, only one person in front of us, a lovely older Asian lady, who I got chatting to, telling me she had been there since 7am 🤯

I managed to secure FRONT ROW SEATS, which was a surprise because, I actually thought it was the 3rd row, until I got to the theatre 😅

Spent the afternoon, visiting the 9/11 Memorial Museum, which was overwhelming and a lot more emotional than I was expecting. A beautiful tribute to that terrible day 💔

So after that "cheery" afternoon, we went to see the "happy" musical adaptation of The Notebook 🙃 lol

What an absolutely gorgeous musical though, I couldn't of picked a better show as my very first. Joy Woods singing mere ft from me and witnessing an absolute masterclass in acting from Maryann Plunkett and Dorian Harewood... Ugly crying ensued lol but what a bloody magical experience. This needs to transfer! ! ! 🥹 X x x

In my 6+ years of blogging/reviewing I don't think I've ever introduced myself, so hello?!?!

👩 I'm Emily (but call me Em!) and books are a huge part of my life.

📖 I read a wide range of genres but love a good domestic thriller the most!

📙 I read so many books from traditional and self published authors. (Indies welcome! 🫶)

📚 I love too many authors to count, but my main auto-buy authors will always be Gillian McAllister, Claire Douglas and Tina Baker.

🧡 I have a Golden Retriever baby who will pop up on the grid from time to time! She is just the best.

🎮 I work in video games and generally love playing games when I'm not reading.

Business events are a business expense.

But it’s worth knowing what you can and can’t claim for.

A surprising one is.. BOOZE DOES NOT COUNT and neither does 0% alcohol.

The key word for UK freelancers navigating what HMRC will and won’t allow, is ‘REASONABLE’.

So reasonable meals, not slap up fancy affairs.
Reasonable snacks and drinks. Not a whole tray of doughnuts.

And no, again, booze doesn’t count.

Make sure you keep your receipts. The easiest way is to photo/scan them on your phone as you go.
