President Bola Tinubu has instructed the Central Bank of Nigeria to halt the implementation of the cybersecurity levy as outlined in the Cybersecurity Act 2015 to prevent burdening residents currently facing economic hardship.

This order follows the House of Representatives' resolution on Thursday, 9 May, 2024, to request that the CBN rescind the circular mandating all banks to charge a 0.5% cybersecurity tax on all electronic transactions in the country, and issue a more comprehensible circular.

The directive reflects a concerted effort by the CBN to fortify the nation's financial infrastructure.

On the 5th of March 2024, Minerva Legal had the honor of attending the UN Global Compact Network
Nigeria Launch of the Corporate Toolkit on Transformational Governance (TG).

The Transformational Governance Corporate Toolkit, developed in collaboration with the participating
companies and partner organizations of the United Nations Global Compact Think Lab on
Transformational Governance, empowers organizations to stay at the forefront of modern governance
practices. The TG toolkit serves as a framework for businesses to address stakeholder expectations and
broaden their approach to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations in line with the
overarching objective of advancing Sustainable Development Goal 16, which focuses on promoting
peace, justice, and strong institutions.
