Alcohol has destroyed homes, destinies, and ministries.

But the Bible doesn’t just say “don’t drink.”

God offers us something better — to be *filled with the Spirit*.

Tonight we’ll learn: What God says, what God warns, and what God offers instead.

---Ephesians 5:18 _“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit

POINT 1: THE BIBLE WARNS ABOUT THE DANGER OF ALCOHOL
Proverbs 20:1, 23:29-32

1. It mocks you- Wine makes wise people act foolish

2. *It wounds you- _“biteth like a serpent”_ → Addiction, sickness, broken homes

3. It wastes you* - Isaiah 5:11 _“Woe to those who rise early to drink”_ → Time, money, destiny wasted

Truth*: The Bible condemns *drunkenness and addiction*, not just the drink. Losing control is losing God’s lordship.

POINT 2: THE BIBLE CALLS US TO A HIGHER STANDARD*
*Galatians 5:21, 1 Corinthians 6:10, Romans 14:21*

1. *For your sake* - Drunkards won’t inherit the kingdom. Don’t let a bottle determine your eternity.

2. *For others’ sake* - _“Don’t do what causes your brother to stumble.”_ Your freedom shouldn’t destroy someone else.

3. *For leadership’s sake* - 1 Timothy 3:3. Leaders must be examples of self-control.

*Truth*: Christianity is about influence. Be the one people follow to Jesus, not to the bar.

*POINT 3: GOD OFFERS A BETTER FILLING*
*Ephesians 5:18* _“...but be filled with the Spirit”_

The problem isn’t thirst. The problem is *what we use to quench it*.

1. *Wine gives fake joy* - for a moment. *The Spirit gives lasting joy* - Nehemiah 8:10

2. *Wine gives fake boldness*. *The Spirit gives Holy Ghost boldness* - Acts 4:31

3. *Wine leaves you empty*. *The Spirit leaves you full and fruitful* - Galatians 5:22-23

*Illustration*: You can’t be drunk and filled at the same time. The container of your heart will be filled with one or the other.

You have to make a choice

*CONCLUSION
God isn’t against celebration. Jesus turned water to wine at a wedding.

But God IS against anything that controls you apart from Him.

*Call*:
1. _For the bound_: If alcohol has controlled you, Jesus can set you free today.

2. _For everyone_: Let’s choose to be *Spirit-filled people* — full of joy, wisdom, and power.

*Prayer Point*: _“Lord, fill me with Your Spirit until there’s no room for anything else.
