*TOPIC:* *MISPLACED TRUST*

*TEXT FOCUS:* * "Yet, for all that, you did not believe the Lord your God " (v. 32)*

📃 ✒️ The people of old found it very difficult to agree and align their thinking and reasoning with God's will, due to the physical things they saw. The sight of giants in the land made them to completely forget the great wonders of God. They seemed to have forgotten that it was the same God. They lost their faith; fear set in and they could not remember the past or see the blessings ahead of them. The beauty and glory of the great cities before them should have encouraged them to see the journey ahead as advantageous and fortune to them and their children.

📃✒️ To God, this is a misplacement of trust. Imagine all His investment on this people. He went in the way before them, searched them out, sent fire to lead them by night, the cloud by day, showing them where to go, and these people disregarded Him by not trusting in Him. What a disappointment! Miracles are all around us on daily basis. God never ceases manifesting signs and wonders to convince the creatures that He reigns supreme over the affairs of men. It is very unfortunate that many do not still trust God as the Supreme Being.

📃✒️ How many times have you made God feel He had wasted resources, time and blessings over you by not believing Him. We find ourselves trusting in physical things. In the book of Ps 20:7, the chariots and horses referred simply denote the ephemeral, wealth, known personality, houses built, certificates and other possessions acquired. Well, these things are good for our daily lives but they cannot give us security in times of trouble; only God can. Reset your trust placement today and give God pleasure over your life as this only will keep you not just standing but firm.

*TEXT:* DEUTERONOMY 1: 9 - 25

*TOPIC:* *THE LAND IS YOURS*

*TEXT FOCUS:* *"Look, the Lord your God has set the land before you: go up and possess it, as the Lord God of your fathers has spoken to you; do not fear, or be discouraged " (v. 21)*

📃 ✒️ Go up and possess it — this is a direct instruction to the people of God in relation to their entering the promised land, meaning that the enemies could not stop them from taking over and subduing the land as God had given them. The children of Israel failed in obeying the Lord despite the beauty and fruitfulness of the land, despite the great hand of God in bringing them out of the land of Egypt, despite the face to face miracles in the wilderness. They did not mind all the miracles that God had performed right before their eyes. They only needed to take a step of faith and fear not in order to acquire what they had been given.

📃✒️ The Lord is telling you to take possession of His provision for you. He has made ready all that you need to get there; all that is required to take over, God has already given them to you. So, fear not, neither be discouraged. That job is yours. That promotion is certain. Do not lose hope, healing is your inheritance. Your success is guaranteed and you are moving to your next level. That land is yours; possess it, subdue it; it will only bring glory to the Most High, for He has already perfected the necessary requirement.

📃✒️ Do not wait any further, remember all the past victories, provision, help, and success He had brought your way in the past.
If He did not fail then, He still will not fail now and forever. This is just one of them. Beloved, go ahead and possess it — the land is yours.

*TOPIC:* *SELECTION OF MEN OF INTEGRITY*

*TEXT FOCUS:* *"Choose wise men, understanding, and knowledgeable men from among your tribes, and I will make them heads over you " (v. 13)*

📃 ✒️ The Israelites were multiplied according to God's promise and as such, Moses alone could not bear the burden of administering them. Hence, there was need to select from among the people, men with good names, good characters, full of integrity, full of wisdom, prudent in the management of affairs, men who were full of skills and possessed knowledge, having the fear of God. They had to be lovers of humanity and ones who could serve their fellow men. They were to offer support services to Moses in directing the affairs of the people of God. Today, we have the same opportunity to choose officers and appoint people to represent us and handle administrative matters in the church and sometimes, to appoint ministers in the household of God, though, it is surprising the ways we choose people into such sensitive positions these days.

📃✒️ To appoint people into church offices these days, many Of us just consider popularity. We often consider what we can personally gain from such people. We use man- know- man', or 'my personal person stuff'. Some even go as far as campaigning right inside the church to handle positions just because of the nomenclature and prestige they stand to gain. They go as far as mobilising brethren during election, all for the sake of occupying positions to suit their selfish reasons, right in the house of God. The Bible does not tell us that the people solicited votes for the posts but they were well considered and chosen as their officers while they deeply considered the attributes as listed in the scriptures.
