The Office of the Registrar High Court has been honoured as the Best Performing Office of the Registrar overseeing 40 registries and above during the launch of the Judiciary Performance Evaluation Report for FY 2024/2025.

The report, which presented the findings of the 10th cycle of the Performance Management and Measurement Understanding (PMMU) Framework, also recognized the Principal Registry for excellence in innovation and digital transformation through pioneering the Urithi Portal.

‎The awards were presented by Her Ladyship Chief Justice Martha Koome and Court of Appeal President, Justice Gatembu Kairu and reaffirm our continued commitment to an efficient, accessible and people-centred justice system.

In line with the Judiciary's vision of Social Transformation through Access to Justice and its commitment to bringing justice closer to the people, the Civil Appellate Division of the High Court at Milimani Law Courts was established on 4th February 2025 through Gazette Notice No. 1184. The Division has jurisdiction to hear and determine appeals arising from the Milimani Commercial Small Claims Courts.

The Division was officially launched today by Hon. Lady Justice Wanjiru Karanja who represented Her Ladyship the Chief Justice, marking a significant milestone in the Judiciary's efforts to enhance the efficient, accessible and timely administration of justice.

The High Court family proudly celebrates this achievement and extends its best wishes to the Civil Appellate Division as it embarks on this important mandate in advancing access to justice for all.

The High Court of Kenya is headed by the Principal Judge and comprises a total of 115 Judges.

To ensure every Kenyan has reasonable and equitable access to justice, the Chief Justice in consultation with the Principal Judge is mandated to establish at least one High Court station in every county. This is anchored in Section 12(1) of the High Court (Organization & Administration) Act, Cap 8C.

The High Court of Kenya at Kabarnet under the leadership of the Presiding Judge, Lady Justice Teresia Matheka in partnership with the Law Society of Kenya (North Rift Branch), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Probation and Aftercare Services, the Legal Resources Foundation and Huduma Center conducted a prison visit and CSR at Kabarnet G.K. Prison.

In line with the Judiciary’s Social Transformation through Access to Justice (STAJ) Blueprint, which envisions an inspired team of Judges, Judicial Officers and Judiciary staff committed to excellence in the delivery of justice, the High Court at Mombasa successfully held a two-day Training Conference.

Among the highlights from the Conference was a session by Hon. Linda Mumassaba, Deputy Registrar in the Office of the Registrar High Court, who presented on the Reviewed High Court Registry Operations and Procedures Manual equipping staff with updated knowledge and tools to enhance service delivery.

The insights gained and commitments made during the Conference will continue to strengthen the Judiciary's mission of delivering justice in a timely, efficient and people-centred manner.
