A great win for kenyan taxpayers yesterday as the Court issued conservatory orders against Minimum Tax.

Minimum tax was introduced by Finance Act 2020 targeting businesses in Kenya, particulary those on a loss making position.

Simply put, it doesnt mattee where you are operating on a loss.Instead of filing NIL returns , you ought to pay 1% of your gross turnover on quartely in the financial year.

KRA also issued a press statement agreeing to abide by the Ruling issued by the Court as it awaits the outcome of the main Petition. KRA further stated that the taxpayers who have already paid the tax will retain it as credit in their I tax ledger pending the outcome of the Petitions.

We shall keep you updated as this matter is litigated.
