🏠 A Small Home in Japan and the Courage to Begin Again
When Arif first arrived in Japan, he thought work or study would be his greatest challenge. Within a few days, however, he realized that finding a place to live could be just as difficult.
Every evening after work or class, he searched through countless apartment listings. Some were beyond his budget, while others were too far from the nearest station. Even when he found a suitable property, he often heard:
Foreign residents are not accepted.
A Japanese guarantor is required.
Your application may not be approved.
After a while, Arif became exhausted. He was living in a new country, struggling with a new language, and had no familiar faces nearby. On top of everything else, he faced the daily uncertainty of not having a permanent home.
During video calls with his family, he always said:
I’m doing well. Please don’t worry about me.
But when the call ended and he was alone in his temporary room, he often wondered:
Will I ever have a place in Japan that truly feels like my own?
Eventually, Arif contacted a rental support team that did more than simply ask about his budget. They listened carefully to his entire situation.
They asked:
📍 Which area do you prefer?
🚉 Which station or train line would be most convenient?
💴 What is your monthly budget?
📅 When would you like to move in?
🎓 Are you a student or a working professional?
👤 Will you live alone or with another person?
🤝 Do you have a guarantor?
Then the search began.
Every stage was explained clearly from finding a suitable property and preparing the necessary documents to submitting the application, completing the screening, signing the contract, and receiving the keys.
A few days later, they found a small 1K apartment. It was not very large, but morning sunlight entered through the window. The station was nearby, the rent was within his budget, and foreign residents were eligible to apply.
On the day Arif finally received the keys, he stood silently for a moment, looking at them in his hand.
He opened the door, entered the empty room, and immediately video-called his mother.
With a smile, he said:
Mum, I finally have a home in Japan.
There was no furniture yet only one suitcase, a few cardboard boxes near the window, and a new key resting on the floor.
Still, that little apartment represented the greatest beginning of his new life.
Because a home is more than four walls.
It is the place you return to after a long day.
It gives you the courage to build an independent life while living far from your family.
And in an unfamiliar country, it becomes the first place you can truly call your own.
