Thushar Neeliyath and Ajay Binu of the 4th Semester B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), students of St. Dominic’s College of Law, Kanjirappally participated in the Horizon Motors–CMS College Kottayam Mini Marathon – Season 4, held on 15 August 2026.

The 10K Run, powered by Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala, was organised with the theme “ ”, promoting fitness, discipline and a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The run commenced at 6:30 a.m. from Horizon Motors (Mahindra Service Centre), near Caritas Matha Hospital, Thellakom, Kottayam, and concluded at CMS College Kottayam (Autonomous).

The event featured separate male and female categories and a 50+ veteran category, with cash prizes and trophies for the top performers. All finishers were awarded medals, and participants were provided with event T-shirts and breakfast.

The participation of Thushar and Ajay reflects their enthusiasm for fitness, sportsmanship and a healthy lifestyle, while also supporting the message of promoting a drug-free society. The Anti-Narcotics Cell, St. Dominic’s College of Law, congratulates both students on their participation and sporting spirit.

Eureka – Pitching Competition

The Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) of St. Dominic’s College of Law, Kanjirappally, organized “Eureka – Pitching Competition” for students on 14 August 2026 at 2:00 p.m. The competition provided a platform for students to present innovative business ideas and develop their entrepreneurial skills.

A total of 11 teams participated and presented their ideas before the panel of judges: Mr. Abin Jose, Senior Analyst, Wipro Ltd. and Media Head, DC School of Management and Technology, Vagamon; Mr. Jibin Mathew, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies; and Ms. Jibil K. John, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, St. Dominic’s College of Law.

The judges critically evaluated the ideas based on innovation, feasibility, market potential, business viability, and presentation skills. They also offered constructive suggestions and valuable feedback to help the participants refine and strengthen their ideas.

The competition enhanced students’ creativity, entrepreneurial thinking, teamwork, communication skills, and confidence, while encouraging them to transform innovative ideas into viable business opportunities.

The St. Dominic's College of Law, Kanjirappally, organized the ‘Theory to Praxis’ session on “Navigating the New Labour Codes – Implications for Workers, Employers and the Judiciary" on 29 July 2026 at 11:30 AM for the 4th Semester, Unitary LL.B students. The programme aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application by providing students with insights into the evolving labour law framework in India.

The resource person for the session was Sri. Mohammed Ziyad K. S., Chief Executive Officer, Kerala Motor Workers Welfare Fund Board and former CEO of the Kerala Agricultural Workers Welfare Fund Board. Drawing from his nearly two decades of experience in the Labour Department, Government of Kerala, he delivered an engaging and informative session on the newly enacted Labour Codes and their practical implications.

Sri. Ziyad explained the objectives behind the consolidation of India's labour laws into four Labour Codes and discussed the significant changes introduced in areas such as industrial relations, wages, social security and occupational safety. He highlighted the impact of these reforms on workers, employers and trade unions. The session was an insight for students to understand the real-world application of labour legislation.

The orientation proved to be highly informative and beneficial, equipping participants with a deeper understanding of contemporary labour law reforms and their practical significance. The programme successfully fulfilled its objective of connecting legal theory with professional practice, making it a valuable learning experience for all attendees.

A Legal Awareness Program was conducted by the Legal Aid Clinic of St. Dominic's College of Law, Kanjirappally, for the Plus Two students of AKJM Higher Secondary School on 24th July 2026.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Mathew S.J., Vice Principal of AKJM School. The sessions were led by Jaiby Joseph and Sijo Sebastian, students of the Fourth Semester, 3-Year Unitary LL.B. program, who addressed key topics including Child Rights, Fundamental Rights, the POCSO Act, Traffic Rules, and Legal Aid.

The program was coordinated by Sr. Littymol Mathew, Faculty Coordinator of the Legal Aid Clinic at St. Dominic's College of Law, along with faculty coordinators Sri V.K. Sree Anand and Sri Vineeth K.G., and student coordinators Basil Sunny and Albin Pappachan, Fourth Semester, 3-Year Unitary LL.B. Teachers of AKJM School also attended the program.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sr. Littymol Mathew, and it was found to be highly effective in enhancing legal awareness among the students.
