*Residential construction is not merely an engineering task; it is fundamentally a legal process. Skipping even one statutory step can lead to serious consequences,* including:
- Stop-work notices
- Heavy penalties
- RERA cases
- Demolition risk
- Buyer litigation
For those planning to invest in, build, or purchase a residential apartment, housing project, individual bungalow, redevelopment project, small builder (non-RERA project), or special township, it is crucial to understand that each stage is governed by various acts, rules, and regulations. This includes construction approval, compliance requirements, drafting of model bye-laws, and adherence to municipal and local development control regulations.

Directors' Criminal Exposure: Immediate Compliance and Defense Planning
Selective Internal Disclosure Under SEBI and Company Law: Directors' Responsibilities and Liabilities
Selective internal disclosure, a concerning practice within companies, involves certain directors or officers being privy to material information while deliberately keeping other board members, especially independent directors, uninformed. This practice undermines corporate governance principles, leading to significant legal liabilities under SEBI regulations and the Companies Act, 2013.
Regulatory scrutiny has intensified due to high-profile cases where independent directors claimed ignorance of financial mismanagement while executive directors possessed complete knowledge of violations. This dual-tier governance structure contradicts board oversight and fiduciary responsibility principles.

In March 2024, India and the four EFTA nations, i.e Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein, signed the landmark Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which officially came into effect in October 2025.
This agreement is not just another trade pact, it’s a strategic bridge connecting India’s growth story with Europe’s innovation, technology, and sustainability leadership. Under the deal, the EFTA bloc has pledged to mobilize US $100 billion in investments over the next 15 years and support the creation of one million jobs in India.hashtag hashtag

Recently, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and various state regulatory authorities, undertook a series of strict enforcement actions across the pharmaceutical sector. A total of 905 drug manufacturing units were inspected, resulting in 694 regulatory actions. These actions included Stop Production Orders (SPOs), Stop Testing Orders (STOs), license suspensions or cancellations, warning letters, and show-cause notices, depending on the severity of non-compliance identified.

The CDSCO’s guidelines and enforcement measures represent responsible steps toward ensuring safe drug disposal, environmental protection, and the promotion of fair market practices. For businesses, these developments underscore the need for a structured and proactive approach to compliance management, emphasizing robust quality systems, transparent documentation, and adherence to regulatory standards.

“An Emerging Threat to India’s Kirana Stores and Investor Confidence”
The Rise of Quick Commerce

The rapid expansion of quick commerce retail platforms is emerging as a significant new threat to India’s traditional Kirana business owners. Across sectors from medical stores to general retail to farm supply, the organized market is opening new doors, reshaping the country’s long-standing retail ecosystem amid a surge of heavy capital inflows

Unlike many other nations, India has a deeply rooted, traditional retail structure built around millions of small family-run Kirana stores. These outlets are more than just convenience stores they are a vital part of the community, sustained by a centuries-old, stable supply chain.

However, the rise of online e-commerce and instant delivery platforms is fundamentally disrupting this structure, threatening both livelihoods and social fabric.

The “Right to be Forgotten”, means to delete information from the very source itself. This right empowers people to have their information removed when its purpose is served or it becomes inaccurate. It helps people to control their online presence. Its interpretation varies across jurisdictions, leading courts to devise different remedies. The Right to be Forgotten is an equivalent notion to the right to erasure and a key part of the Right to Informational Privacy.

When Cybersquatting Sparks Domain Conflicts
https://astrealegal.com/industry/pharmaceutical-and-health-care/when-cybersquatting-sparks-domain-conflicts/ "What exactly is Cybersquatting?"

Cybersquatting is like a land grab in the digital world. Just as opportunists once rushed to claim valuable plots of land, cyber squatters rush to register internet domains that carry brand value, often trademarks, well-known company names, or even celebrity identities.

The idea is simple: register a name before the rightful owner does, and then demand money, divert traffic, or exploit the confusion. While the term sounds almost playful, the damage it can cause is anything but.

Perspectives on Cross-Border Dispute Resolution in India
https://astrealegal.com/services/corporate/banking-and-finance/private-banking/perspectives-on-cross-border-dispute-resolution-in-india/

In the era of globalization, cross-border disputes are becoming increasingly common, especially in countries like India that are actively involved in international trade and commerce. These disputes typically arise when the parties involved are located in different countries, leading to jurisdictional and legal complexities. The nature of such conflicts often necessitates reliance on mechanisms like international arbitration, diplomatic negotiation, or the enforcement of foreign judgments through domestic courts.
