| Dr. Atanu Nath, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at Tihu College, Assam, has brought immense pride to the state and the nation by being awarded the prestigious Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics, often referred to as the “Oscar of Science.”
He shares this honor with more than 370 scientists worldwide, making him one of only a handful of Indians to receive the recognition. Remarkably, he is the only laureate currently settled and working in India, and the first from Northeast India to achieve this distinction.
The Breakthrough Prize is widely recognized as the "Oscars of Science". Founded by Silicon Valley titans including Mark Zuckerberg, Priscilla Chan, Sergey Brin, Yuri Milner, and Anne Wojcicki in 2013, this prestigious award honors top researchers in life sciences, fundamental physics and mathematics.
