PROTEST AGAINST POLICE ASSAULT ON A JUNIOR ADVOCATE
We strongly condemn the alleged assault of a junior Advocate by a police officer of Domkal Police Station, resulting in serious injuries and the breaking of two fingers of his right hand.
The incident is a matter of grave concern for the legal fraternity and raises serious questions regarding the conduct of the concerned police officer and the protection of Advocates in the discharge of their professional duties.
In view of this grievance, the members of the Bar are compelled to stage a peaceful protest at the office of the Superintendent of Police, demanding:
An immediate and impartial inquiry into the incident.
Appropriate legal and departmental action against the police officer responsible, if the allegations are established.
Proper medical treatment and protection for the injured Advocate.
Assurance that such incidents of alleged police high-handedness against members of the legal profession will not be repeated.
We appeal to the authorities to take prompt and appropriate action and uphold the dignity, safety, and independence of the legal profession.
We demand justice and accountability.
