Today we welcomed students to our LLM in International and Comparative Disability Law and Policy Programme and they had an opportunity to get to know each other better and learn more about our work here at the CDLP. It was lovely to have students join us in person at the Institute for Lifecourse and Society (ILAS) building and online and learn more about their motivations and goals for the year ahead. We look forward to many more interesting discussions.

The programme facilitates remote attendance for all students. While all seminars take place in person, we record and live stream them, for the benefit of students who cannot attend them in person for any reason.

Thank you to all the speakers and participants that attended the 17th International Disability Law Summer School and made it such a success. We have had an excellent three days of reflection, discussion and engagement and it would not have been possible without you all.

We wish everyone a safe journey home and hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back to Galway again some day!

For our final day at summer school we are exploring how we are or can realise the CRPDs vision for all disabled people before considering the future of the CRPD and bringing it into a new era.

This morning Joe McGrath ( The National Platform Of Self Advocates Ireland), in conversation with Emma Q Burns, Nicolas Joncour (European Network on Independent Living - ENIL ENIL Youth Network) and Ashraf Frugh and Mari Siilsalu (Independent Living Institute) explore if the CRPD is being realised for people.

After our coffee break we will have a participatory exercise where we imagine that a review committee has been established for the CRPD and we work in small groups to consider what additions or changes we would make to the CRPD twenty years on.

Our final panel today is 'The Road Ahead: Bringing the CRPD into a New Era'. Students from the CUMAS Programme University of Galway Access Centre, Ciara McGagh and Katie Joyce from Youth Work Ireland Galway's Youth Access Group will provide youth perspectives on the road ahead followed by presentations from Dr Magda (lena) Szarota, Emily Martinez and Akriti Mehta.
