Got a roof leak that nobody can find?

Since adding thermal imaging to my services, I’ve had great success finding leaks that others have missed.

A thermal imaging camera helps me see hidden cold and damp areas internally, that cannot be seen with the naked eye. A drone can then be used externally to inspect that area in great detail.

Give this a thought:

Electrical system checks are mandatory for many organisations and establishments, including checks on solar panels and their associated electrical components.

So why don’t homeowners do the same?

Most people are understandably unaware of the risks, but electrical components deteriorate and faults develop. Those faults often produce heat and excessive heat can lead to fire.

Solar panels, batteries, inverters, cables and connections should not simply be installed and forgotten.

Property sales are falling through because survey reports state that a roof may need substantial works, or that due to its age, it may need replacing.

This is happening.

Surveyors are doing their job by highlighting potential risks for buyers, but in many cases these statements are made without a detailed visual inspection of the roof.

That creates uncertainty.

Uncertainty creates concern.

Concern can lead to renegotiation, delays, reduced offers, or the sale collapsing completely.

A drone roof inspection removes a large part of that uncertainty.

High-resolution drone imagery can clearly show the actual condition of the roof covering, ridge tiles, valleys, flashings, gutters, chimneys, parapets, leadwork, moss growth, slipped tiles, cracked tiles and other visible defects.

This evidence can show whether the roof genuinely has visible issues — or whether the survey wording has created concern without the visual evidence to support it.

For sellers, this can protect the sale.

For buyers, it provides clarity.

For estate agents, it helps keep the transaction moving.

For that, you either get peace of mind, or the chance to renegotiate before you commit to a property that could cost you thousands in repairs.

Roofs are one of the most expensive things to get wrong on a house — and one of the easiest to check properly before you buy.

Did you know thermal imaging can help identify wet and dry areas of land?

Because water has a high specific heat capacity, it heats up and cools down more slowly than surrounding soil and vegetation.

At sunrise, wetter ground remains cooler for longer. In the evening, those same wet areas retain heat longer than drier land.

From the air, a thermal imaging drone can detect these temperature differences and help highlight patterns linked to:

Natural springs
Waterlogged ground
Poor drainage
Compaction-related moisture retention
Dry or stressed areas
Variation in soil moisture across a field

For farmers, agronomists and environmental consultants, this provides another useful layer of evidence when assessing crop performance, soil condition, drainage issues and wider land management.

Thermal imaging does not replace agronomic expertise — it supports it by making hidden moisture patterns easier to see.

Sometimes the land is telling you something long before it becomes obvious at ground level.

What could your farm or pasture look like from above?

To the naked eye all paddocks look the same, but through a multispectral lens you can identify the fields that are stressed. Particularly important for grazing because the red fields have less nutrients than the green fields.
