A trust is set up once. Maintaining it properly is an ongoing responsibility.

Without structured documentation, tasks get missed, records become inconsistent, and what started as good estate planning becomes difficult to defend.

At TrustDocs, we provide solicitor-backed Annual Minutes that help you maintain your clients' trusts the way they should be managed.

Professionally drafted, clear, and consistent.

It is a straightforward way to add structure to your service and confidence to your client relationships.

Most can define Hold-Over Relief.
Fewer can explain it to a client in a way that actually lands. There is a difference between knowing a term and being able to use it. That gap is where client confidence is won or lost.

Hold-Over Relief is a good example.

Simple version: When you gift certain assets, any capital gains tax is not paid immediately. It is deferred and passed to the person receiving the gift. They pay it when they eventually sell.

Technical version: Capital gains tax relief allowing gains on certain gifted assets to be deferred and transferred to the recipient upon disposal.

Watch Rob explain how he would use this in a real client conversation.

Annual Minutes are one of those things that get deprioritised.
Until a client's trust is challenged and the records are not there.

At that point, the absence of proper documentation stops being an admin oversight and starts being a serious problem for your client and your reputation.

provides professionally drafted, solicitor-backed Annual Minutes designed to keep your clients' trusts managed correctly, consistently and with full confidence.

For estate planners, it is also a straightforward recurring service to offer, structured, reliable and already done for you.

Behind the scenes: how the TrustDocs Ltd. Estate Planning Glossary was built.

This wasn't a quick content exercise. Every term was developed with two audiences in mind. The client sitting across the table who needs clarity. And the planner who needs precision.

That meant writing each definition twice, testing whether the simple version would land without legal background, and whether the technical version would hold up under professional scrutiny.

The result is a resource built to be used, not just referenced.

Explore the glossary. And if you want to see how it fits into your practice, book a call with our BDM Rob Kane.

Ever had a client ask a trust question… and you weren’t completely confident in your answer?

Not because you don’t understand the structure, but because explaining it clearly, on the spot, isn’t always straightforward.

It’s something we see regularly, even with experienced estate planners.
And in those moments, confidence matters.

We’ve been working on something to help with exactly that.

Launching next week.

Yes, I know… we’re a little late for Valentine’s Day ❤️
But by now, you should know that in the office, we don’t miss an opportunity to celebrate.

This was our first team lunch of the year, and Helen absolutely went all out. When I say savoury and sweet treats… I mean a proper feast. The kind of lunch that makes you loosen your belt and seriously consider cancelling the rest of the afternoon 😅.

Helen, again thank you ever so much for spoiling us with this wonderful banquet. And thank you, Alan, Alistair and Robert for supporting this initiative again this year.

There is nothing more powerful than sharing food to bring the team together. Already looking forward to the next one.

Small identification errors can create big delays.

We regularly see Land Registry requisitions caused by:

• Minor spelling discrepancies
• Address mismatches
• Incomplete ID checks
• Missing documentation

In some cases, families are asked to re-sign documents simply because names did not align precisely.

That’s why, from 1st January, we require valid ID and Proof of Address for both settlors and trustees at the point of instruction.

It allows us to:

✓ Reduce the risk of requisitions
✓ Avoid unnecessary amendments
✓ Prevent avoidable delays
✓ Protect the integrity of the documentation

It’s a small procedural step, but one that protects both consultants and their clients.

At TrustDocs, compliance isn’t reactive. It’s proactive.

Have you experienced Land Registry requisitions caused by ID mismatches?
