The summer break is approaching, and for separated parents, it can bring challenges around where children spend their time.
One of the most effective ways to avoid parental conflict is to start planning now 👇
▪️ Create a clear plan
Look at a calendar together and create a clear plan for dividing time during the summer break. The earlier you start this exercise, the better.
If you don't already have a set formula or Child Arrangements Order, it's essential to find time to sit down with your co-parent and find a fair way to split the holidays.
▪️ There's no one-size-fits-all approach
Finding the right balance will depend on:
• Your family circumstances
• Each parent's work commitments
• Any commitments the children have (sports, activities, camps)
• Plans with extended family
Establishing a clear co-parenting schedule from the outset is highly recommended. Put agreements in writing, even informally, so everyone knows what's been agreed.
If you're struggling to agree, or if one parent isn't sticking to arrangements, a Child Arrangements Order can provide the structure and clarity you need. These are legally binding and can be enforced through the court if necessary.
