28hrs workday in a 24hrs world

A solicitor has been struck off after logging the equivalent of 7,511.7 hours across 266 days, averaging more than 28 hours a day, in an attempt to hit a bonus worth nearly £70,000.

The tribunal found the time records were knowingly inaccurate, which led to the Legal Aid Agency overpaying the firm by just over £98,000.

The outcome? Dishonesty at the “highest level” and removal from the roll.

Lesson: Your reputation in law is built over years and can be lost over timesheets.

Do billable targets create dangerous pressure in the profession or is this simply misconduct with no excuse?

Are bonus structures a smart way to reward performance or do they create unhealthy pressure to increase billables?

Suing someone or defending a lawsuit doesn’t have to cost you thousands.

There is a cheaper and faster way than going through the Court.

Before you spend thousands fighting, ask whether ADR could resolve it instead.

Court should be a last resort, not the default.

Would you try ADR?

👀 Brooklyn Beckham spilled the tea!

What legal actions could we see in the U.K. Courts?

If claims are being made about him or the Beckhams that are false and seriously harm his/their reputation, this could raise issues of defamation (libel) under UK law.

Truth, honest opinion and public interest would all be key defences.

If private family matters are being shared without consent, there may be arguments around misuse of private information or breach of confidence (especially where there was a reasonable expectation of privacy).

And if behaviour crosses into repeated targeting or intimidation, harassment laws might come into play.

That said 👇
•Legal claims are costly, slow and public
•Usually celeb fallouts are handled privately or through PR, not court
•Context, evidence and intent are everything

You don’t need to be a celeb to need a solicitor!

If you are having family fallouts, business disputes, harm to reputation, broken agreements, etc get in touch 📧

Female nurses have won an employment tribunal after raising concerns about shared changing facilities with a trans colleague. The tribunal found the NHS trust’s handling of the situation breached their dignity and amounted to s*x discrimination — though no wrongdoing was found by the trans colleague.

⚖️ The case highlights the legal tension employers face between privacy, dignity and inclusion in the workplace.

Celebrity chef James Martin has lost a trademark battle with a Scottish whisky firm after trying to register his own name for drinks.

The UK Intellectual Property Office ruled in favour of the whisky company (which has long-held rights to “James Martin’s” for its whisky), citing potential consumer confusion and established trademark use.

Martin was also ordered to pay legal costs.

A reminder that your name isn’t always your brand under the law! 🥃

👉 Would you assume a celebrity owns the rights to their own name? Yes or no?

I’ve never been able to keep a plant alive.
Not even a cactus.

Last year, I did something different. I found the perfect spot for the plant, showed up consistently, followed some tips from friends and family and this grew.

It’s a reminder that progress is still possible (with some help when needed!).

If you’re going through a tough time right now, this is for you. If things feel overwhelming, uncertain, or like you’re stuck with no clear way forward, you don’t have to deal with it alone.

I help people navigate legal disputes when they feel stressed, confused or in the dark about their legal options. If you need clarity, support or a clear next step, get in touch.

Sometimes all it takes is one conversation to move forward.

In 2025, I set a goal to be more involved in my local community and make new connections. To grow my brand and business. And so even on a snowy morning like today, I left my house at 6am to attend a meeting.
This year I plan on expanding my business.
Follow along to see my progress or to get some legal tips along the way.
