Roughly 1 in 11 people over the age of 65 have dementia in the UK. When someone loses mental capacity, no-one has legal authority to manage their affairs. By setting up one or both Lasting Powers of Attorney ('LPAs'), you can choose who will have the authority to manage your financial affairs and/or make health and welfare decisions on your behalf when you are no longer able to do so. 🫂

An LPA is a document that we all hope never needs to be used. However, if you do not have either in place and you lose mental capacity, it could cost thousands of pounds for someone to apply to the Court of Protection to be appointed your Deputy. Setting up your LPAs now can avoid unnecessary complications and expenses from occurring in the future. ⚠️
