The reality of running a cleaning business that nobody ever sees.....

The 4:00am alarms, the early starts, driving into Manchester city centre, finding somewhere to park and then dragging all our cleaning equipment through the streets before we’ve even started the actual job 🤣

It’s not always glamorous, and some days are absolutely exhausting, but this is the side of building a business that people don’t see.

We’re not afraid of hard work. We’ve got big plans, and we’ll keep showing up, putting the hours in and doing whatever it takes to get to where we want to be.

One thing about us, we won’t stop until we make it 👏

THE DIFFERENCE A PROFESSIONAL CLEAN CAN MAKE! 🖤

Now THIS is a satisfying result!! 🤯👏🏼

We were recently booked by a client who had been struggling to get their flooring clean. They’d tried absolutely everything, but no matter how much they scrubbed or mopped, the dirt just wouldn’t budge!

White lino flooring can be an absolute nightmare to maintain, especially when dirt and grime become embedded in the textured surface.

A lot of people don’t realise that using the wrong products can actually make the problem worse, leaving behind residue that attracts even more dirt!

For flooring like this, it’s important to use a pH-neutral floor cleaner suitable for lino or vinyl, diluted correctly according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Combined with the right cleaning techniques and proper agitation, you can lift years of built up grime without unnecessarily damaging the flooring.

And that’s exactly what we managed to achieve! 🙌🏼

We left this client’s floor looking practically BRAND NEW, and just look at the colour of that water!! 😳

Sometimes it’s not about scrubbing harder or using stronger chemicals. It’s about understanding the surfaces you’re working with and knowing how to treat them properly.

THE FACES BEHIND BROADFERN 🖤

Considering we’re in and out of people’s homes every single day, we’ve never actually introduced ourselves properly 🤣

I’m Mel, this is Lucas and between us we somehow manage to keep Broadfern running whilst starting work at 4:30am EVERYDAY and having a diary that’s permanently chocker!!

A few things people don't know... we're actually cousins! So it's a full family run business. If we're not absolutely laughing our heads off at each other, we are sitting in sheer silence through exhaustion 😂 no day is the same with us and you wouldn't believe some of the stories we have! 😆 I don't think anyone would believe us even if we told them!!

We’ve also had a pretty mad year really. From cleaning people’s homes to working for the likes of BBC and ITV, looking after VIPs and even a few celebrities along the way (although our NDAs mean we’re keeping our mouths shut on that one 🤐👀)

BUT the best part of Broadfern has genuinely been the people we’ve met. Some of our clients have become more like friends and I don’t think they realise how much we appreciate them ❤️

So a bit about us and our dreams outside of Broadfern....

Lucas dreams of travelling across America some day, whilst I’m just trying to build a life that makes my family proud and be the best mum I can be🥰

Neither of us came into this knowing where it would take us. We’re just two cousins having a go at building something successful, working ridiculous hours and hoping it’ll all pay off one day!🤞🏼

Honestly… how stunning is this?!

Was an absolute dream to clean as well 🧼🫧 nothing better than cleaning a brand new bathroom when it looks this good 😍

We’ve been inundated with messages from clients regarding our Christmas shut down, so just to confirm our dates 🎄

Our last working day will be Monday 21st December and we’ll be returning to work on Monday 4th January 2027.

If you’re wanting a Christmas deep clean, please message us ASAP. We’ve opened up some extra availability in the run up to Christmas, but once those slots have gone, they’ve gone.

We very rarely take time off as we completely understand the importance of keeping your home or commercial premises clean, but after what has been a really difficult end to the year for us personally, we’ve realised more than ever just how important family is.

So this Christmas we’ll be taking a proper break, spending as much time with our families as possible, and coming back refreshed in January ready for what is already looking like a very busy start to 2027 🤍

Absolutely love a kitchen like this 😍✨

We’ve been SO busy lately with regular cleans, deep cleans and new enquiries coming in pretty much every day, so I’ve been terrible at actually remembering to take photos and post our work 😂

So just a little reminder that we’re still very much here, still cleaning away and still taking on a small number of new clients where we can fit them in!

So grateful for how busy Broadfern has become and for everyone who continues to recommend us, book us and trust us in their homes 🫶🏼
