Shining a spotlight on our incredible Charity of the Year, Anxious Minds, recognising the inspiring work they are already doing and their future ambitions to provide even more vital mental health support to those who need it across the North East community.

As Mental Health Awareness Week comes to an end, we cannot finish without recognising the incredible work being done at Anxious Minds and sharing our vision for the future of the charity.

We are currently restructuring and strengthening our services to better support the communities that rely on us. This includes expanding our work with the veteran community, launching new specialist mental health projects, and relaunching our community mental health programmes with enhanced levels of support.

These developments mark an exciting new chapter for Anxious Minds as we continue our commitment to improving mental health support for those who need it most in the North-East.

Incredible achievement, but as rightly said there is always more work to do to raise awareness of this charity, and the creation of the Anxious Minds Group shows the dedication of all charities, CICs and companies coming together to improve mental health across the North East.

Ten years ago, something remarkable began in the North East.

Our CEO (Eddie) founded Anxious Minds using his war pension while living in a caravan, after facing homelessness and struggling with his own mental health following 22 years in the Armed Forces.

Today, he is still a volunteer, but what started from almost nothing has grown into something truly life changing. We have raised more than £2 million in funding, supported thousands of people across the North East, and won multiple national awards for our work in mental health and healthcare.
But the truth is, the need keeps growing.

Every year, more people reach out for help, and I know we cannot meet that demand alone.

That is why we are launching the Anxious Minds Group a network of charities, CICs, and companies coming together with one clear mission: to improve mental health across the North East.

Mental health is one of the greatest challenges facing our region. By working together, sharing services, assets, knowledge, and resources, we can become stronger, more effective, and reach even more people when they need us most.

Together, we can do more. Together, we can change more lives.

Anxious Minds is a multi-award-winning mental health charity based in the North East. For over 10 years, they have provided early intervention mental health support, including counselling, peer support, and community-based services. They support people experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and crisis, with a strong focus on veterans, young people, and those most at risk, and their mission is to ensure that no one has to face mental health challenges alone.
