25 years at Franklins πŸ’™

Today, we’re celebrating a very special milestone for Andrea, Equity Partner and Head of our Corporate Services Team, who has been part of Franklins for 25 years.

We sat down with Andrea to look back on her time with the firm, the moments that have stayed with her, and what has kept her here for a quarter of a century.

Congratulations, Andrea, and thank you for everything you’ve contributed over the last 25 years.

Your drive, energy and vision have played a huge part in how the Firm has evolved over the years. You are always looking ahead, challenging us to think differently and championing new ideas, while never losing sight of what matters most - our people, our clients and the communities we're part of. πŸ’™

πŸ“£ Calling all charities - applications are now open for the Franklins Β£50 Challenge 2027!

We’re looking for up to 12 local charities to become our official charity partners for next year’s Challenge.

Now entering its 9th year, the Franklins Β£50 Challenge has raised nearly Β£250,000 for local charities since it began - bringing together charities, businesses and organisations across our communities to turn a simple Β£50 investment into something much bigger. πŸ’™πŸ§‘

And the benefits go far beyond the money raised. Taking part can help charities reach new audiences, raise awareness, make valuable connections and build relationships with local businesses and supporters.

πŸŽ₯ Rosanna Stimson, our Head of Marketing, explains more about how the Challenge works, what’s involved and what we’re looking for from our 2027 charity partners.

Could your charity be one of them?

πŸ“… Applications close Friday 2nd October 2026

βš–οΈ Employment Rights Act 2025: is your business ready for the upcoming changes?

There are some important employment law changes on the horizon, and now is a good time for employers to start getting prepared.

From 30 October 2026, new protections around third-party harassment will come into effect, alongside stronger requirements for employers to take steps to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.

The good news is that there are practical things businesses can do now, from reviewing policies and considering potential risks to making sure managers know how to respond if an issue arises.

To make things a little easier, our Employment Law team has put together a helpful guide and downloadable checklist covering some of the key actions employers should be thinking about ahead of the changes.

βš–οΈ Business disputes: dealing with problems before they escalate.

Disagreements are an unfortunate reality of running a business, but addressing them early can often prevent a small issue from becoming a much bigger problem.

From supplier disagreements and unpaid invoices to contract issues, shareholder disputes and partnership disagreements, getting the right advice at an early stage can help you understand where you stand and what options are available.

Taking action sooner can also help protect valuable business relationships, minimise disruption and, where possible, avoid the time and cost of a dispute escalating further.

Whatever the issue, understanding your position early can help you make informed decisions about the best way forward.

🏑 Hoping to move before the new school year begins?

With September just around the corner, many families will be hoping to get settled into their new home before the school term starts.

At this stage, keeping on top of the final details can make all the difference. Responding quickly to requests, making sure paperwork is in order and keeping in regular contact with your solicitor, mortgage provider, and estate agent can all help keep things moving towards completion.

A smooth move is a team effort, and working closely with your conveyancer and others involved can help keep everything moving towards completion.

πŸ›‘οΈ A resilient business is built on strong foundations.

Building resilience is about more than reacting when something goes wrong. It is about putting the right foundations in place to protect your business, your relationships and your future ambitions.

By taking a proactive approach to risk, commercial relationships and business processes, you can help ensure your organisation is prepared to respond to change, protect what matters most and continue moving towards its goals with confidence. πŸ“ˆ

Throughout August, members of our Corporate & Commercial team are sharing insights into the different ways businesses can strengthen their resilience and prepare with greater confidence for what lies ahead. πŸ’Ό

Does your Will still reflect your life today?

Summer is often a time when families come together, whether that is through holidays, family celebrations or simply spending more time with the people who matter most.

These moments can sometimes be a reminder of how much life changes over time.

A Will that was right for you several years ago may no longer reflect your current circumstances or wishes.

It may be time to review your Will if you have:

πŸ’ Got married or separated
πŸ‘Ά Had children or grandchildren
🏑 Bought or sold property
πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§ Experienced changes in your family circumstances
πŸ’· Seen a change in your financial situation
✍️ Changed your mind about who you would like to benefit

Reviewing your Will does not have to mean making major changes; sometimes it is simply about making sure everything still reflects what matters most to you.

A little time spent planning now can help give you and your loved ones peace of mind for the future.

If you would like advice on making or reviewing your Will, our Wills, Trusts and Probate team are here to help.
