Another instalment of the conversation with Cass and Dean 👥

"The person who's been hiding their injuries for so long... the person who's suddenly developed asthma, the person who has PTSD, they're all different..."

No two experiences of the armed forces are identical, and neither are the challenges that can come with them.

Struggles can manifest as physical or psychological. They can occur throughout service, during the transition into civvy street or a little later in life as a veteran.

At Veterans Welfare Group, people like Cass and Dean use their lived experience to offer practical, peer-led support. From navigating medical downgrading and discharge to adjusting to life beyond service, if you need support, we're only a message away.

Noise-induced hearing loss remains one of the most common service-related injuries among UK service personnel and veterans. Exposure to weapons systems, aircraft, machinery and more can have lasting effects that go on beyond service.

We're proud to receive this feedback from a veteran we've recently supported.

If military-related hearing loss or tinnitus is affecting your day-to-day life, we can help. From training courses to help you manage your tinnitus to wellbeing and legal support, get in touch and we’ll let you know what options are available to you.

"Basic Training for Going Back to Civvy Street"

If only discussions around transitioning from the armed forces to civvy life were as clear and informative as basic training in service! That's exactly what we're trying to achieve with Veterans Welfare Group, but with personalised insights from people who have lived experience of the processes.

Whether you're preparing to leave the forces or have already made the move, we have practical insights and reassurance to help guide those who need help around medical downgrading, medical discharge and more.

Stay tuned for more snippets from the behind-the-scenes discussion between Cass and Dean!

It's official ⭐ Dean Phillips has been named Role Model of the Year at the 2026 English Veterans Awards 🏆 👏

This award is a fitting recognition of the time, care and commitment he has given to service members, leavers and veterans. Dean has dedicated countless hours to helping others navigate the medical downgrade and discharge process, ensuring that service leavers have reassurance and support beyond their service.

His work is built on genuine care for people and a belief that nobody should have to face challenges alone. We're incredibly proud to see his dedication recognised on such a deserving stage. Congrats, Dean!

From conferences and transition days to a touch of charity golf, we've had the chance to get involved with and speak to many of you.

Thank you to everyone who stopped for a chat, shared their experiences or took the time to learn more about the support available.

Roll on October - we're looking forward to strengthening our community further and engaging more with serving personnel, service leavers and veterans🪖

Yesterday evening, we had the pleasure of hosting an important networking event with Centurion Chartered Financial Planners in Manchester, bringing together members of the Veteran Welfare Group and the wider community.

The event provided an opportunity to raise awareness of vulnerability among veterans, share knowledge and experiences, and build new connections to better understand how we can all play a role in supporting veterans who may be struggling or vulnerable.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a valuable evening. We’d also like to thank St Johns Buildings Barristers' Chambers for providing the space and hospitality, creating the perfect environment for meaningful conversations and networking.

It was fantastic to see so many organisations and individuals coming together with a shared commitment to supporting our veteran community. 🤝
