We recently received this feedback from a client, after working with Fortune Green Legal Practice. We’re grateful they took the time to share their experience.

"Linda was recommended to us by a friend who is a Barrister. Linda's excellent knowledge of Local Authorities proved to be invaluable; her approach is both highly professional, tenacious and always courteous.

We very much appreciate Linda's patience, understanding and speed of response. It has been a great pleasure to work with Linda and we would not hesitate in recommending her in the future."

To kick off a new month, here's a reintroduction for LinkedIn and a glimpse into what I do and why.

I'm Linda and I am the founder of Fortune Green Legal Practice. After years in local government, I launched my own firm to do things a bit differently - combining knowledge of planning law and procedure with a hands-on, client focused approach.

So far the year has flown by. Before it ends, I look forward to sharing some of the memorable experiences. What have been the professional or personal highlights you would like to share?

Clients often ask where Fortune Green Legal Practice is located.

The office is right in the centre of London. The nearest tube stations are Leicester Square and Charing Cross. Buses that stop almost outside are routes 24, 29 and 176.

There is a great place for coffee in house as well as plenty of other cafés nearby. If you plan to be in the area, let's arrange a catch-up.

Not related directly to work this time, but the Fortune Green Legal Practice office is located a stone's throw from Trafalgar Square, and I have wanted to write something about the current work of art exhibited on the Fourth Plinth for some time. Full disclosure - I find Antelope by Samson Kambula very eye-catching. There is lots of information below the sculpture itself and online explaining the historical significance of the scene and the figures portrayed.

Please send a direct message to arrange to meet for a coffee at Fortune Green Legal Practice. On the way here, please take the opportunity to see this captivating sculpture for yourself (my photo doesn't do it justice).

Section 106 agreements are vital tools in city planning. They are legal deals between developers and local authorities, designed to ensure new developments meet important conditions, like providing affordable housing or improving local facilities. Whether it's a large project or a smaller one, these agreements aim to balance the new development's impact with benefits to the surrounding community. Despite the name, it's not always a mutual agreement - sometimes the developer makes commitments alone. In this blog, we'll explore the role and impacts of these crucial agreements in city planning.

Are you curious about how local planning authorities inform people about planning applications? Complaints often arise from individuals who feel left in the dark when they don't receive direct information from the Council. The truth is that while there is a duty to consult, it doesn't necessarily involve sending letters to neighbouring property owners. Instead, councils typically post site notices and publish applications on their websites. To learn more about the consultation process and what happens if you discover an application after the consultation period, read the full article here https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7079926807847661568/

In a recent planning enforcement notice appeal by an unrepresented householder, the Planning Inspector dismissed the appeal but denied the Council's request for a full costs award. Read more about the case and why the Council's request was denied here: https://postly.app/2p3J

The High Court recently upheld a local planning authority's decision to issue a planning enforcement notice, rejecting the claimant's challenge. The court found that the authority complied with the Equality Act 2010 and appropriately balanced public interest, affirming their wide discretionary powers in this matter.
