In this Article, I discuss the Harrods Al Fayed scandal, gleaned from news articles, and comment upon the legal hurdles all the Claimants will have to jump if they are to win in the Courts. I also discuss the proposed redress scheme, and how much easier it would be if just some of the recommendations of IICSA (Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse) were brought onto the statute book.

After I was invited by Talk TV to give my views upon the recent report commissioned by Andy Burman, Mayor of Manchester into the handling of Child Sexual Exploitation ("CSE") in Rochdale, I started to give the topic some thought. I was inspired to write this blog after listening to an excellent podcast featuring Marilyn Hawes of Freedom from Abuse. The good news is that ACAL (Association of Child Abuse Lawyers) has now set up training videos to cover most subject areas such as Limitation, Causes of Action, Statement Taking, Vicarious Liability, Failure to Care Cases, and Group Actions. They are FREE for members, but can be purchased for £25 per month by non-members. They offer a good grounding for those new to child abuse work, or a refresher for those with some experience.
