Does Corporate Governance Actually Work in the African Context?
Rita Kabatunzi, Company Secretary, Stanbic Uganda Holdings, Lead Facilitator of ACORP 2026, has some thoughts.
Governance can look very different on paper than it does in the boardroom.
ACORP 2026 is a new ACGC executive programme for experienced professionals who advise boards, support senior leadership and shape organisational decision-making. It explores what happens when governance principles meet real organisational pressures, from boardroom dynamics and culture to risk, technology and AI.
The programme uses African case studies and real governance experience to examine what works, what doesn’t, and why context matters.
The African perspective is deliberate. For professionals working across African markets, it provides a grounded way to examine how governance issues play out in practice. For lawyers and professionals outside the continent who advise African clients or work with African markets, it offers a deeper understanding of the context, challenges and realities that shape governance across Africa.
Watch Dr Rita’s take on what ACORP is designed to explore.
ACORP 2026 runs from 2 September to 20 October 2026.
