Can you really study for the SQE from outside the UK? 🤔

The short answer is yes, you can. You don’t need to relocate to the UK to prepare for the SQE with us.

Our courses are fully online, so you can study from wherever you’re based, fit your studies around work and stay connected with your tutors and supervisors remotely.

You’ll just need to plan ahead for the SQE assessments, including travelling to the UK for the SQE2 oral assessments.

How can you develop your legal skills while you're still studying?

Many aspiring solicitors think they need a training contract or years of legal experience before they can start building the skills law firms are looking for. The reality is that there are plenty of ways to develop those skills long before you qualify.

Salma Maqsood, President of Bristol Law Society, Egbe Manton, co-founder of a tech and AI-enabled legal careers organisation, and Saima Zaman Haroon, Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship Coach at The College of Legal Practice, share their top advice:

🔹 Build your network by attending local law society and junior lawyer events
🔹 Look for informal legal experience to gain insight into working in practice
🔹 Set aside dedicated time each week for your own professional development
🔹 Be intentional with your free time - small, consistent actions add up
🔹 Volunteer to build valuable transferable skills and broaden your experience

Can you pass the SQE studying entirely online?🤔

Many aspiring solicitors worry that studying online means less support, fewer opportunities to ask questions, or feeling like you're learning on your own. The reality depends much more on how the course is delivered than whether it's online or in a classroom.

Steve Johnson, SQE1 Module Leader, and Liliya Nagornaya, current SQE2 student, share their top tips for making online SQE study work:

🔹 Follow your study schedule consistently rather than trying to catch up later
🔹 Trust your course materials and fully engage with them instead of searching for endless extra resources
🔹 Ask questions when you're stuck – don't struggle on alone
🔹 Build a realistic study routine that fits around your work and other commitments
🔹 Don't skip difficult topics - tackle them while they're fresh
🔹 Make time to rest. Looking after yourself is just as important as your revision
