Drying our clothes outside keeps them fresh and well aired!
Here are some of the main benefits:
🌏It's environmentally friendly.
🌞It whitens and disinfects clothes - the ultra-violet rays of sunlight help to bleach and disinfect laundry. This is particularly beneficial for white sheets, towels and cloth diapers. However, for dark-colored clothes, excessive sunlight can cause some harm. So keep dark colors in the shade, if possible, to prevent fading.
👕It's gentle on clothes and makes them last longer - the combo of heat and tumbling wears away at the strength of fabric fibers, causing tiny bits to break away–that’s what creates the fuzzy stuff in your dryer’s lint trap.

Here are 3 good reasons to shop at a bulk or refill store:
• Package free / Plastic free - you bring your own containers
• Supporting suppliers who are making a difference to people's lives and the environment
• You buy what you need - No Waste

Some of my local refill shops here in Hackney are moving online only but they are still offering home delivery. This is where I try to buy most of my household basics.
There are certain things I will now try and only buy bulk like: spices, flour, all purpose cleaner, lentils, seeds, dry fruit and oats.

How to clean a Beeswax Wrap
Fill your sink with cool water and a mild washing-up liquid.

Turn old t-shirts 👕 and clothes into cleaning rags and cloths !
Have you been decluttering!? Or, do you have some clothes that have seen better days? Not sure what to do with the clothes and fabrics you no longer want/need?

What to look for in a good cleaning cloth:
💯% cotton - t-shirts and sweatshirts are great!
🚫Avoid polyester/synthetics fabrics and denim

📐What size?
I like to have a few 15cm x 15 cm and then some larger ones for bigger surfaces 30cm x 30 cm

Where to use them?
💧Wipe surfaces
🖼Clean windows
🚗Wipe car seats
🐕Wipe dog paws after a muddy day in the park
🌳Bring a rag or two to the park to wipe up water on slides and swings

👋Say Hello to compostable sponges!

What I most like about these compostable sponges:
• 100% plastic free
• long lasting (7 to 12 months)
• machine washable
• quick drying
• compostable (just cut into small pieces once they are looking sad, and place them in your compost bin)

Materials vary from plant cellulose to nut shells and loofah.

Contacting your local MP is a great way to raise awareness and call for change.

Whether it is climate change, aviation expansion, LGBTQ+ equality, immigration law, or any other matter that needs action, you can contact your MP when you, or people living in your area, are affected by decisions made by the UK Parliament or by the Government, MPs represent all the people in their local area, whether they vote for them or not.

How?
Writing is probably the best method, as it provides a written record that can be referred to later.
You can:

Write a letter to your MP at: House of Commons, London SW1A 0AA
Email them using the contact details in the Directory of MPs
Start a petition

Remember to always include your own address when you write to your MP so that they will know you live in their constituency.

Organizations like The Climate Coalition and are great to find templates and to find out more about how to reach out to your MP.

Everyone knows we should be doing more to look after our health. Keeping active can set you up for good health now and later in life.

It can be hard to find the time (or the motivation) to head to the gym after a long day at work or get up at 6am for a run.

An active commute is an easy, convenient way to fit exercise into your daily life. By switching to walking or cycling to work you can do a little exercise every day and barely even notice it.

Marseille Soap for shaving

Are you ready to ?

Savon de (Marselle soap, made amongst other ingredients from olive oil) has been on the markets for more than two centuries and is still sold as an all purpose soap.

How to with Marseille soap?

You will need :
1 cube of olive Marseille soap
1 shaving brush for the
Tap water

Pre-shave steps:
Step 1: Wet your shaving brush and rub it over your cube of Marseille Soap to obtain a lather.

Step 2: Then run the shaving brush over your beard evenly.

Remove the foam by rinsing with cool water. Remember to rinse immediately to prevent the skin from drying out.

Finally, wipe your face or legs with a clean towel.
