Our children's legal rights to education and SEND support are at stake.

We all know the SEND system desperately needs reform. But reform should mean making things BETTER, not weakening the legal protections children and families depend upon.

We need proper debate in Parliament. Real scrutiny. Different perspectives. Parents, professionals and young people being heard.

Not a system marching forwards with its fingers firmly in its ears.

We've already passed 100,000 signatures, meaning Parliament must consider this petition for debate. But that's not a guarantee of a debate, and we cannot afford to let this conversation disappear.

👉 Update on Education, Health and Care Plans

We know that many families are waiting for updates about Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), and we understand that this can be an anxious and frustrating time. Recent media coverage about SEND services and EHCP delays may also be worrying for some parents and carers, and we want to reassure families that supporting children and young people with SEND remains a key priority for Warwickshire.

Like many local authorities across the country, Warwickshire has seen a significant increase in requests for EHCP assessments. This growing demand has affected our ability to consistently meet the 20-week statutory timescale, and we recognise the impact this can have on children, young people and their families.

We want to reassure you that we remain committed to working alongside families to ensure every child and young person with SEND receives the right support, at the right time, to help them learn, develop and thrive. We would like to thank parents and carers for their continued patience, understanding and partnership as we continue this improvement work.

The Autism & ADHD Advocates CIC are inviting any adult attend to understand more about autism, ADHD and neurodivergence, whether that is to better understand themselves, a family member, or someone they support.

The sessions will explore areas such as executive functioning, sensory needs, emotional regulation and everyday neurodivergent experiences, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and talk things through in an informal and welcoming environment.

Sessions run fortnightly on Tuesday evenings (6.30pm - 8pm) at Pathways Family Hub with the next one on Tuesday 15th September.
