After an extended British summer of 🌞sun, sun and more sun, anyone else feeling like 🙅 rain isn't supposed to happen so much anymore...?!
My expectations of British weather have been changed, so my natural reaction is disappointment and 🤷frustration at my expectations not being met.
👉A favourite quote that I will frequently share in mediation is: "Almost all conflict is a result of violated expectations." (Blaine Lee)
I regularly see how expectations not being met are so frequently the 🤨 trigger for feelings or thoughts that lead to the conflict behaviours we then see - whether in families, friendships or in the workplace.
I have had to manage my expectations of myself this week as family and work life merged mediation calls and mediations, with medical appointments for one of my teens.
I did, however, get to spend time absorbing the knowledge and insight of Janell White FCIPD MInstLM , Amy Cousineau Massey and Joy Bruce at their fantastic session, 👹'Monsters under the bed' for HR, Legal and Recruitment matters.
As a former 🧑🎓law student and tribunal clerk, I still love learning about and discussing law. (And I find it incredibly useful for workplace mediation practice to understand the impact of law changes in the workplace.)
And, I got to enjoy another wonderful Portsmouth ONLE Networking session, beautifully hosted by Rachel Harwood and Kelly West .
Today, is a gentle blend of a catch up with other SEND mediators, a conflict coaching call, and hopefully popping in on 💛 Yellow Tuxedo®'s Homework club to get some non-delivery work done with their expertise ✅.
What have you been upto this week?
